Kind of Dumpy, But Very Profitable

First off, the place is kind of a dump. If you want to see what the place looks like, google "better living centre cne", and you'll see where the casino is hosted. It is that way because it's only open for approximately 4 weeks out of the year (4 weeks before labour day).

Second, the line-up to get seated is long, and very inefficient. After waiting over an hour I walked around and found multiple empty seats and just sat myself. The players at the table said that the seats had been empty for over an hour, meaning I was waiting for no reason. Most of the employees are either elderly or foreign, so the dealing is not what anyone would consider professional (again, these are mostly people that only do this for 4 weeks out of the year so temper your expectations).

Third, dining is even worse. Food and drink is expensive ($8 beer, $12 chicken fingers and fries) might be palatable if the drink was still cold and the food was still warm by the time you got it. Simple things like being given napkins, cutlery, and the like are not considered by the wait staff.

Fourth, the rake is quite steep. 10% of the pot with a max of between $7 and $9 depending on what stakes you're playing. They have limit games of 5/10 ($7R), 10/20 ($8R), 20/40 ($9), and a 50/100 game that sometimes turns into 100/200 depending what the players want. 20/40 Omaha is available too. The "No Limit" games (1/2,2/5) are actually spread limit, with a max bet of $100 per a street. Competition in general is very weak, so if you can play simple ABC poker you can make money.

Hours are from noon - 6am, however if you go after 11pm parking and admission are both free. After playing for 3 hours you can get a parking and admission pass for the rest of the season.
