Bored by Texas fold 'em

Hey guys,

I'm a poker n00b. I've played hold 'em a few times, and I know the smart thing to do is fold most of the time. But honestly, that's kinda boring. So I'm wondering... what variation of poker should I learn if I want to spend more time playing, and less time folding?

  1. 7 Card Stud Hi Lo Split.....my personal favorite. But it's tough to find. Omaha hi/lo is a good action game too where you can play more hands, and is more common than stud.

  2. Easy. Omaha 8/better. And low stakes. Bc the learning curve is a biatch.

  3. +1 for Omaha-8. I'm actually surprised this isn't more popular yet, given that Hold 'em is no longer new to anyone...

  4. Ok, cool. If I wanna get my hands dirty with Omaha, should I start out online or just jump in at a real table?

  5. @jimmy40 I'd say online, if you can, since you'll likely be able to find smaller stakes to learn on; plus you'll get in far more hands-per-hour, thus getting a feel for the game a lot quicker than at a live table.
