Chance of a New Game being adopted "IN" the poker room

We all know there are tons of table games invented almost everyday, but all these inventions happen for games that are "player against the house", like BlackJack, PaiGow poker, etc. But when it comes to the "player against player" games of skill that are typically played INSIDE the poker rooms, we have not seen even a single new game for decades!

I have invented a new method+device that can be applied to any of the already existing "Player against player" games, lets call my concept: XYZ. So with my new concept you can basically play XYZ Texas holdem (instead of the standard Texas holdem), XYZ Pot Limit Omaha (instead of the standard PLO), etc.

We also know that casinos make a lot less money from the games "inside" the poker rooms than those table games played "outside" the Poker rooms, because "inside" poker room they only make rakes while on table games outside poker room, house actually plays against the player with a mathematical advantage.

So a new game (like mine) that is designed for inside poker rooms, has a disadvantage that casino may already not make enough and therefor less willing to share part its profit with the inventor/owner of a new game, but the advantage of my game is that given that there has not been any new invention for players inside the poker rooms, those players may have a higher willingness to try a new game, specially if they don't need to learn much new rules. As I said they can keep playing their own favorite game whether it was holdem or PLO just now with the XYZ add-on.

I appreciate your opinions about whether there is any chance that a new "player against player" game however fascinating it might be, can ever be adopted by any casino for playing inside poker rooms AND of course casinos possibly accept to share 10%-20% of their already low rakes with a game owner/inventor, when they can just continue offering the non-patented games and pay nothing to no one?

  1. It's possible that rooms would spread it after it gets approved by gaming. This has been done very often, and recently. Think Open Face Chinese Poker, and it's several new variations like Pineapple OFC and Pineapple OFC with 2-7 in middle. Since these games probably werent patented before being shared it unlikely any casino is paying anything to anyone for the right to spread said games. I'd say get it patented, get it approved by gaming, then set up meetings with poker rooms and pitch your product. A new game was introduced at the Palms in Las Vegas a few years ago but it never took off. Good luck!

  2. Thank you, since as far as I know, it has never happened in the history of gaming that a casino pays royalty for a (Player Against Player) game that they use in their poker rooms, obviously because the games used inside poker room are not owned/patented, my big concern at this point is not patenting or licensing, but instead whether any casino (even if they really like my invention) can justify it for themselves to pay royalty for a patented/licensed game to be used inside their poker room while all of their other poke room games are free to them.
