First live tournament.

So I've played cash games online for many years. Have done pretty well. And that is an understatement. However, I have never played a live tournament game in a casino before. I am really worried about table etiquette and not making a fool of myself. Any tips? And yes, I am nervous. The heart is pumping. It's a small 60 dollar buy in. But again, I just don't want to look like a donkey.

  1. Just take your time; watch the action, so you know when it is on you; and, most importantly, be sure to have fun!!! A $60 buyin event will not likely have a bunch of real sharks in it, so while there might be people with a lot more live experience, talent-wise you won't be out of your league at all.

One tip for switching from online play, you have to pay a lot more attention to chip stacks and pot size when you are playing live -- because you don't have the software doing it for you. So, watch the bet amounts and be sure to count the pot so you know the correct odds. Also, if you stack your chips in standard size piles (most people do stacks of 10 or 20 chips), then it is easier for you to tell what you have in chips.
