hourly earning in Vegas

This question is fr everyone, but Benton views would be very appreciated as I have a lot of respect for your comments man...

I am not a pro but always consider my trips in Vegas as a challenge for the highest earning (30 days / year in Vegas on average = 300 hours of play..). As I stay in nice hotels and travel with class, reimbursing the trip is the name of the game...;=)

My average earning over the last 2 years is in the 25/35$/h range, having played a broad mix of 75% 1/3 20% 2/5 4.9% 5/10 0.1% 10/20....:=). I don't have unfortunately track of which games I won/loss. (I started proper starting recently)

I am a decent, not extraordinary player winning online up to 0.25/0.50 or maybe 0.50/1.00. probably break-even 1/2, looser above.

For such a profile as mine which shall be pretty much standard of a "very solid recreational player', would you believe it is more profitable to play at 1/3 or 2/5 ?

Talking about game selection, I would believe that for 1/3 at least, the most important factor to consider is stacks, avoiding playing with a bunch of very small stacks which are impossible to exploit for significant hourly amounts ? Do you believe I have it right ? In 2/5, some games can be thought so more factor are to be explored ?

  1. I find that playing against those $100 short stack warriors is very profitable. They can never fold top pair. You can 3 bet them quite often if you have a tight image and notice they raise a very wide range. Same thing in 2/5, 3 bet + Cbet. I only play 2/5 and 5/10 and might be playing 10/20 on my next trip out in a couple weeks. Depending on when you play in Vegas, $50/h should be the minimum you should be making @ 2/5. Going upto 5/10 wouldn't double that though since the game is a little bit tougher but if you're good, it doesn't matter.

  2. @Thesalesman11 $50 min at 2/5 is unlikely achievable over a large sample size. i don't know
too many grinders making $100k/year playing 2/5. $25-35/hr more reasonable expectation.

  3. @zzyzx That's because all the players that are making $100k/year @ 2/5 will have moved upto 5/10. If you been playing poker for a living, you should be moving up levels if you are good enough. Taking shots at much bigger games. I plan to move up to 10/20 this week when I come to Vegas but if I don't run good at 5/10 then I will stay there or play 2/5.
