Greetings , I will be flying into Ft Lauderdale on the 17th of April and be staying in Miami Beach area for two days. My main purpose of this trip is to solely play cash games and maybe a tournament. So my question is what poker rooms or casinos should I visit? I heard Hialeah Park is good? What about Magic city? I know there is the Hard Rock, and Isle Casino up north, but are they worth the trip to drive too? I normally buy in for 200. Any advice on any poker room would be nice

  1. Hard Rock is really good but is the only room I have tried near that area,

  2. If you're playing small (like $1/$2 NL) you'll be fine anywhere, especially Hialeah if you are staying in Miami Beach. I normally stay in Ft Lauderdale and I prefer the games at Isle Pompano and Hard Rock in Hollywood as well as Gulfstream. As stated though, if you're playing 1/2 NLH there is no real reason to travel north to Pompano or even Hollywood

  3. I agree with Benton that any room will be fine for lower limit games. I love Miami, in my opinion its one of the great cities of the world. However, I have to say while there are MANY reasons to go to Miami, poker ain't one of them. While there are several places to play the quality of the poker isn't great (high rakes, tight locals, casinos not open 24 hours.) If your main purpose is to play low limit cash games and tournaments you may want to go someplace else. I have heard Las Vegas offers a lot of choices for poker.

If you decide to head north for some poker Gulfstream and Hard Rock are nice facilities which offer some other entertainment/dining options as well. Pompano has a nice poker room and Harness racing to go with but it is a long drive, probably about 1.5 hours, from Miami Beach, you will pass more than ten poker rooms on the way there.
