TI 1k guarantee that isn't guaranteed

So I went last week down to TI for their 10pm 1k guarantee and was told since they do not have enough players their will be no guarantee. They apparently need to have 3 full tables in order to give the guarantee. Has anybody ever experienced this anywhere else. I mean if its a guarantee that is the prize pool no matter what. If you don't get enough players then they should put in the overlay. I was furious when i heard this and am possibly going to stop playing at TI.

  1. This is not accurate in any way. As stated by zzjitterzz we only need 20 players to meet the minimum where the guarantee becomes less than the prize pool. I would have to say that you misunderstood whatever was said or you were at the TI in Minnesota? We have NO minimum for the guarantee, if TWO players only show up to play one of our guaranteed tournaments then those two players make out like bandits.

This month we have had two 10pm tournaments with only 19 entries and both had $50 added to the prize pool and we have a 2pm tournament with only 11 entries and we added $450 to that prize pool (additionally there was another 2pm with 17 entries that had $150 added).

In July we had a total of 4 tournaments (2 at 2pm and 2 at 10pm) that did not meet the guarantee and we added a total of $600 (with one of those tournaments having $400 added).

So it is very obvious that we do not have a minimum number of entries required and will add whatever is necessary for the guarantee.
