Vegas lodging question

Hello dudes and dudettes,

I will be visiting Vegas FOR THE FIRST TIME this year!!! I'm super psyched, but as this will be my first visit I got a lot of stuff to plan. What I wanted to ask the community about is how I could find cheap lodging? I googled for some cheaper hotels and found websites like http://las-vegas.hotelscheap.org/ but I am not sure, whether this is really cheaper than booking a hotel through its own website? Can anybody give some recommendations or tell me whether this site really is cheaper?

Thanks in advance!

  1. I think that booking on a site like Orbitz through the 'book a room' links here on poker atlas will get you as good of a deal as you will get anywhere. If you're looking to book last minute, try Hotwire.com or a mobile app called HotelsTonight.

  2. trivago is usually good. I will use them or orbitz. go to vegas all the time and usually one of those sites will have good deals

  3. I don't know first hand but many friends often stay at The Quad due to it's low prices and locations in center strip. Might be worth checking out.

  4. I've stayed at the Quad (mostly back when it was Imperial Palace). The rooms were mediocre at best. From everything and read and heard, they've done almost nothing to the rooms or hotel hallways, despite making the casino nicer. I've also stayed at the Flamingo and while the rooms were nothing special, they were a clear step up from the Quad. So, for cheap and convenient, I'd lean toward Flamingo. But, it's always worth going into both Ceasar's entertainment and MGM's websites to see what the rates are for the dates that you are planning to stay.

  5. I agree. But often I see the Quad listed for $29 a night while the Flamingo is $69 or $79. So if price is a factor the Quad is a good deal if you're only using the room to sleep.

  6. @BentonBlakeman - last couple times I came to town, prices were closer. For an extra $10 per night I went with Flamingo.

  7. Surely the Gold Coast,or Monte Carlo will provide a clean, good quality room at a reasonable rate? I travel to Vegas from Ireland at least twice every year, and a very good double room in The Palms costs us $500 per week, all inclusive. That's less than the rake at $2/5 tables in the Mirage or Rio. A bunk is ok,but comfort and sleep are essential weapons in the long hard poker battle. Good luck at the tables.

  8. I've not stayed in any of the hotels, but have noticed the Strip hotels vary widely in price (and presumably quality and amenities). Cheapest on LV Blvd. That I have seen are at either end. Circus, Circus and Riviera on the north and Excalibur on the south. But again, you take a risk when you go cheap on the Strip.

If you're interested in staying downtown, you can get a room for $30 or so. And 4 Queens, California Hotel and Golden Nugget don't charge those silly resort fees.

  9. I think the best deals are through vegas.com but be sure to factor in the @*(#& resort fees. Those can easily double your rate and they're not included in the list price. Also, budget a LOT of money for tips.

  10. We use hotwire.com.
We reserved a room at VDARA for 75$ plus resort fees.
We also reserve at the Tropicana for 37$ plus resort fees.
With hotwire you pay usualy 40% less than the normal price but it is a blind process and you cannot change your reservation after.

  11. Wow, okay thank you very much for all the responses. I considered all the answers and I think I will go with http://las-vegas.hotelscheap.org/ nevertheless and I will stay at the Quad as some of you mentioned. Thanks so much guys!

  12. @SomethingElse Please let us know what your experience was.

  13. @Gamin Well I booked through http://las-vegas.hotelscheap.org/ now and I got some percentage off for being a new customer, which I thought was pretty nice. I booked for the beginning of September, so we will see how it goes, but for now it looks like I won't be ripped off hahaha.

  14. @SomethingElse Do you have a Caesars Entertainment Total Rewards players card? If you do and you've played on it sometimes you can get better rates by logging in. Quad is a Caesars property.

Quad is okay. If you just want a room and not much else it's not a bad choice. Used to be dingy and no frills, but with the Linq upgrade they maybe better now. With the Linq next door the location isn't bad for being in the middle of things.

  15. @thamster No, unfortunately I don't. This is why I had to with http://las-vegas.hotelscheap.org/ . But to be honest, I compared http://las-vegas.hotelscheap.org/ with websites like http://www.kayak.com/ and found it really to be a tad cheaper. I wanted to save every penny I can so that I can spend more while I am actually in Vegas :)

  16. You can also try checking hotels with http://www.reservationcounter.com/hotel/las-vegas
The websites look alike. I am not sure if they are affiliated with each other but here they offer good prices as far as my experience goes.
