  1. Priceline is always a good option for decent accommodations. Otherwise I'd look at places like Siegel Suites near The Orleans for fairly safe weekly studios. Always use your players card if playing in the casino to maximize your comps that you can use for food to keep eating expenses as low as possible.

  2. Will you have a car? Hotwire is a great places for getting cheap rooms, but you maybe staying off strip. Days Inn Wild Wild West is a divey motel within walking distance to the strip, else Circus Circus maybe you best bet for getting cheap rooms. Eat off-strip as much as you can. Get a 30-day bus pass to get around, the bus system is very efficient.

If you are going there to grind, keep in mind the games are getting tougher. Good luck!

  3. My personal tip is to use public transportation to go everywhere. The bus system will get you to and from the airport and the deuce and residential bus system will get you anywhere you need to be. A little research on the RTC website will set you up.

  4. If you're going specifically for poker, most will have discounted rates for extended play. Your best bet may actually be to stay downtown at an extremely discounted rate, especially if it's long term, then take cheap public transport to the strip.

  5. @VegasFanboy i ve been already 3 times to vegas every time for more then 3 weeks and i' ve stayed at the imeprial palace and qaud .
But now the prices have gone way up .
But i found the location perfect, you go down play some poker then wen you've got eneough just go to the hotel relax a bit at the pool.
so i prefer to stay close to the big poker hotels if i can .
I'm looking at harrahs for the moment they give good prices , anybody stayed there before ?

  6. @davekebb don't forget to add the daily resort fee to your room cost at Harrah's. I find it much easier and less expensive to stay downtown at the plaza and rent a car. I find the distance from room to poker to give me breaks that are needed to concentrate on poker. Also allows you to see other places around town that would otherwise be ignored. A great break especially on a 3 week trip.

  7. @davekebb Sorrry, I read it as "1st" time for some reason. If poker and pool are your two priorities, I may suggest the Flamingo. While the price is a few bucks more per night, you'll get one of the best pools in Vegas IMO. The pool at Harrahs is pretty bad.

  8. I stayed at a time share at the Flamingo in September. The pool at the Flamingo is awesome. My wife and I stayed at the Flamingo itself a few years ago and we didn't like it. Our room was newly refurbished but very poorly done. I found Harrahs to be pretty crappy. I did enjoy the daily tournaments at Harrahs though.

When we go to Vegas we always stay on the strip and rent a car to travel outside the city for a break from playing.

  9. @orcusvox what is a time share ?

  10. @davekebb - time shares - people own a block of time at a defined property and if the can't use it they will sell their time. (keep in mind the property will try to sell you time) Most properties offer hotel like services including pools but are set up like condos with full kitchens and laundry.

  11. @davekebb I can stock your fridge at a time share for super cheap next time your in town. That'll save you money, eating out every meal gets pricey!
