Word of Advice
It was around 1950 and I was just ten years old. Full of life and restful thought. My Dad started to teach me a little poker, and at that time it was draw poker.
I use to watch him play with some of his friends. As time went on and I grew older, a bunch of the neighborhood kids liked to play for pennies and nickels.
I won and lost like all of us do, but what I can tell you is the game gave me an itch.

What an incredible feeling, during and after, something you really like, the excitement of play the anticipation of the outcome, the thrill of the win or the sadness of a loss.
All those little tingles were wildly out of control, and I never told anyone about these feeling. It even drove my desire to play a game called cribbage with my Uncle Patsy.
He was a longshoreman, you know the guys who unload all the ships that come into the ports with goods and raw materials. The kind of stuff you buy in stores.

I have to tell you he was a hell of a player; I couldn’t beat him no matter how I tried. Then one day, he said to me gruffly, “Hey kid, where you goin?
Slow down and really think about what your doin! Have some PATIENCE, you might win!” “Ok Patsy, I said, I’ll try!” That OK, later paid off. I finally beat him at this game.

I took that little suggestion into my poker games, and believe it or not, yep, he was right, what the hell was I rushing for. Since that day, I’ve used that word “PATIENCE” as part of my arsenal of weapons when I play poker, without it, the wins I’ve had over the years would never occurred. So I’m telling you like my Uncle Patsy told me “PATIENCE” and use it to your advantage.
Good luck at the tables ....
