Montreal and its surrounding areas are replete with many high-class poker rooms. Evidence of this is given by the visit of the prestigious World Poker Tour to Playground. This venue accounts for around 100 of more than 200 poker tables to be found in this area of Quebec. Even when the poker media have departed after the WPT, a devoted core of local players drives an unrelenting poker scene. Regional tournaments such as the Aces Series events at Casino de Charlevoix serve to ensure that there is no “WPT hangover” once the cameras have left town.
