I had quite a busy time in Vegas the week of June 6th. Played in the am tourney at the Aladdin 1x and the afternoon one once as well. There weren't any games going before the am tournament though.I got there early to play but no deal.Didn't make it to the money but it was a well run tourney. Blinds increase fast so you'd better be agressive and catch some cards or you'll be out.
Played 2/4 limit at the excalibur...lots of different types of people. Left about 20 dollars down. There was a lot of no fold em with raising. Next time I'll try the 200 max NL instead.
Next was Bally's. They have a poker area, not really a room by a front bar. Played 200 max NL and did well. There were the young 20 something players and some businessmen on vacation at the table. I did well cashed out up 300.00.
Sunset Station has a medium sized poker room. The dealers were good. Most of the players were nice and polite...a few grumpy locals be ready. I played the NL there but it was minimum 200 buy in. I think the max is 400. I was up over 400 but called an all in bet w/ my AK and lost. He had J,10 and outdrew me. Still cashed out +19.00 and had played 3 hours. The next night I cashed out +300.00 and again +300.00 in the morning. My most profitable poker room yet.
I wanted to play in one of the wsop tournaments so I played in a few 1 table satelites. Some of the competition is pretty fierce. There are some players that just play these and don't bother with the bigger tournaments. Watch out for them.The 1 table satelites are $125.00 for 2 chips $175.00 for 3, $225.00 for 4, and so on...up to over $1,000 Each chip is worth 500.00 towards tournament entry, plus you get 120.00 cash. I chopped a 225.00 tourney and entered a bigger tourney. I fly back on Thurs. Wish for me that I become a card rack :) I'll give the report after I get back.
If you get the chance to go to the WSOP....it is trully amazing as others have said...all the greats are all there either playing in tournaments or cash games. They are all polite and accessible. Hint:park in the back by the convention entrance. Do not use casino valet. It is about 50 miles away.
