Budget Poker Trip To Vegas (May 11th - 18th '05)
Our trip started with the booking of 4 chep flights to Vegas via Airline Network, we paid £220 plus taxes, etc. giving a total cost of £284.(Manchester to Vegas via Chicago flying with BMI)
We picked Circus Circus for our base purely on price. The room (West Tower)worked out at £125 each for the week. (Two to a room with a queen bed each!).Our first Poker experience began at the Circus Poker room, They run a competition every morning at 11:30 (10:00am Sat & Sun), which consisted of a 43 Dollar buy in with on average 40 - 50 Players. It was a fixed limit game for the first 60 mins then became No Limit. We all thought this was a great way to start the day, they paid the first 4 places with prize money starting at 500 dollars to the winner and 150 to the fourth place.Drinks were good, served about every 15 - 20 mins and the dealers were a good laugh. All four of us won some moniey during the 5 times we played. It was not the sort of place you wanted to hang around, a little old and smelly!
Our next stop was to the Riviera Poker room which I believe opened last month. This was really clean, excellent drinks sevice, every 10 mins, the waitresses were a little older but really friendly. The dealers were also very friendly and the games were quite low limit 1/2 fixed and 4/8 no limit. If your looking to gain hours of experience and not loose much money this is a great place to start your poker carer. All in all we had a really good experience at the Riviera and would highly recommend it!
After about an hours walk the next stop was the MGM, from what we have read on this site we were expecting a lot and we were not disappointed. The little problems they had with the computer system seemed to have been ironed out although we agree that the tables with marble surround are not the easiest to play on!!!
This trip just proved that you dont have to be rolling in it to enjoy both Poker and Las Vegas. None of us spent more than £400 and we even got invited to help make the Record Breaking 100th Birthday cake which tasted great although a bit Messy. See you next Time!!!
