Let me start off by saying I'm a newbie to hold'em. Only played some home games with family and a few $50 tournaments at my brother in laws club. Played in some 1-3 and 2-4 ring games at Excalibur. Mostly weak players and I was one of them. Some were clueless however and I didn't catch on to that soon enough. Dropped on a few hands I should have won. Also dropped on one hand when I should have, but turns out if I stayed I would have cleaned up. I was dealt 10-3 in the big blind. Flop was ace, jack, 3. Someone bet, and then someone raised, so I dropped. Turn and river were both 3's, so I would have made quads and won the pot and a free spin on the wheel. Pair of jacks won the hand. Played in three tournaments One at Excalibur which was actually the inaugural event for their 9:00 am tourney. Came in 15th out of 60. Played at Manadaly Bay and Monte Carlo and finished in the middle of the pack. Enjoyed the Excalibur the best of those three rooms. Also backed my brother in law for half of the $80 entry at Wynn for their 8:00 am satellite (top two get a seat at their $330 noon tourney) Their were five left when his pocket jacks were made into a set on the flop. He went all in and was called by a pair of pockt queens who naturally made his set on the river. Harsh!!! He would have been close to chip leader. Great trip even though I lost but I got the virgin experince out of the way and feel I learned some.
