First time live..
We arrived late (11:00PM) on Sunday and checked in. Stopped by the poker room to check it out and do some "studying". Then off for a late dinner and wind blown tour of the strip.
Played in the 10:00AM tourney the next morning. While waiting for tourney to begin I spoke with a guy who had also spent "countless hours on this site(AVP)before leaving"; as I had done. Doing fine until I'm dealt AA..Raise to 500(from 50/100 blinds) and get 2 callers. Flop comes K,?,?. 1st caller checks, I check, next guy raises to 300. 1st guy folds, I re-raise to put the guy all-in. He agonizes over it for a minute or so and then calls. He has 88. Turn comes 2H, river is an 8. 88 calls all-in with a K on the board??? I still don't get it!!! I'm down to 300 and chase a straight, which I hit on the river..only to be beaten by a flush. Off to the pool to meet my wife and begin working on my tan.
Tuesday night we went to see La Reve at the Wynn..This is a MUST SEE!!! Then wandered around a few of the casino's and checked out their rooms.
Wednesday night I decide to sit in on a 2/4 game at the Flamingo after my wife has called it a night. Buy in for a 100 and right off the bat and up 60 thanks to KQ clubs in my hand and KQos on the flop. Play only good hands for about 3 hours and cash out with 350.
Thursday night I hit the Flamingo room again about 11:30 and there's 1 seat left at the 2/4 table. Amazingly, I get the same starting hand as the night before and win about the same amount by hitting the flush on the flop. Keep my stategy of only playing good hands and in an hour I've doubled my stack. That's when the fun starts!!! On consecutive hands I am dealt, AA, KK, TT, 99, 66, A6s and AA again. Every hand has at least 8 to the flop (even after pre-flop raises) and 4-5 to the river. I win every hand including hitting a spade on the river to beat out a K high straight with my A6. After all the smoke clears, I am up 500 bucks. I stick around for a bit and give back about 70 bucks. When I cash out, one of the dealers congratulates me on my night and that's when I tell her, this is the first time I've ever played live. She's like "No Way!!" I told her, "Yeah it was" and proudly walked off to my room with more money than I started out with, for the 2nd nigh in a row. Overall, in 6+ hours playing at the Flamingo I won $680.00. Not bad for a first timer!!
Oh BTW, if you go to Vegas you have to eat at Mesa Grill in Ceasar's. It is unbelievable!!!!
