first trip to Vegas - day 2
We had only a short time to play at the Ex after the lesson and wanted to give it another shot. Our friends had a morning meeting so we met them at the Ex poker room at 2 so they could take the same lesson. The same little old lady was there.
She turned out not to have a clue how to play poker but knows how to act clueless. She did not do it as much today, presumably because we knew it was a load of crap.
Mike taught this class and he was great. He was funny and ran through all the information and explained it all very clearly. One of our friends had never played poker before and everyone made her feel comfortable with the game. Running through the class again really helped with the whole spread limit thing. Being accustomed to structured limit games, spread limit takes a little getting used to. We ended up staying at the table from 2pm till 11pm. We ate the hamburgers from the buffet. Not really that good, but the price was right. Cocktail service slowed down during the Cowboy game. The game was great on the big screen - a friend of ours guessed the final score (big payout on a free bet). Some guy at another table won the bad beat cash -$4500 split between the winner, loser and rest of the table. And this older guy got escorted out after an argument over a NL pot. The people were tons of fun to play with and 9 out of 10 dealers were personable and fast. We got to spend the day drinking beer, playing cards and watching football. I made $80 on my original 20 in chips and we had a blast. Our friends made out a bit better after collecting on the football pool. For a first trip to a poker room, Excalibur was absolutely great. It was the perfect place to get started.
Thanks to all the reviewers at allvegas poker for steering us there.
