First Vegas Poker Trip

Online I play strictly $5 Sit n Goes. I read here that the small buy in tournies in Vegas took a big chunk off the top but I had to lose a couple before I did the math.

From there I went to the $1/$2 No Limit game as No Limit tournaments are my specialty. There I lost too many games where I was left shaking my head wondering why the eventual winners hung in til the river with horrible hands.

It got to the point where if I had a good hand after the flop I wanted to show it to the others. "Look I have AA with a K kicker, please lay down your 7-2 off suit now so I don't have to watch you get a 2 on the turn and a 7 on the river" Don't get me wrong, this is not another bad beat story just a warning for those who want to try there luck in real casinos. I thought I played good poker but unfortunatley by bank roll kept me from the $5/$10 tables where common sense is entered into play.

From No-Limit I went to $2/$4 Limit which I had to learn on the fly. I found that if I sat back and only played premium hands I could usually come out slightly ahead. I should mention that the slightly ahead part only came because of the Casino I was playing.

The Excalibur had a cash wheel you could spin for several reasons such as getting Quads or various bad beats. My meal ticket was the "Pocket Aces getting cracked" where if the pot got over $30 and you lost with your aces you got to spin a wheel. The smallest win was $40 and my 3 spins over the weekend kept me just above even for Limit poker.

I vow to learn Limit poker strategy and return to Vegas with a bigger roll.
