Been a reader for quite sometime, first post.
Arrived in vegas at 11:00 am, checkin at Flamingo and made it to the 12 pm Caesar tourney. Great structure, allows some poker playing. Sat with several locals and some tourists. Overall play pretty good. 1 player bullied table with reckless plays at time mixing in very calculated odd plays playing on the image. Managed to maintain an above average stack with a large reraise postflop on my preflop raise with QJo and tight player threw away pokt. 10s on a 469 flop. Made a chip move from bully who was the chip leader, lost a hand trying to bluff, the next hand he is on the button and I had about 1000 more chips, he makes big raise on button, I have pock 8 and go all in thinking he is steaming, he turns over a pock 9s and I trip on the flop. Use my stack to make final table and chop 1400 with 8 others. tourney lasted 7 hrs!!

Played in 5 other SNG cashing in 1x and going out early in 3 of the 4. I want to accumulate chips early of go. Not wanting to hang around to hour to go out in 9th with no $.

Found a new twist to the cash game. Being from east Coast, I went to bed at 9 pm Vegas time and would wake up around 2 am and head to the 1-2 NL at Flamingo. Was very profitable all 3 "mornings". Drunks, loose players, good players who were tired and making mistakes, even those with mental issues....She would call your raise, but fold against reraise...She folded pocket AA on a preflop reraise headsup stating she did not have a good feeling... Then broke down in tears 30 minutes later stating that she is a good Mom even though her husband cheats on her, any how keep throwin your chips in and I will listen..(actually it is sad).

At the end of the day if you have the patience (remember not playing out of position or subjective hands, is saving you money) and if you really pay attention to your opponents and attack the weak ones and avoid the strong, there is a ton of money to be won in vegas.

Look forward to reading ya'll reports and will update again in Fall when i return.

  1. I did the exact same thing during my stay at the Wynn in March. I woke up at 5 a.m. and went down to the poker room to have profitable sessions against drunks and unconscious dudes.

  2. You know... I have never thought of taking that approach when in Vegas.
heck that makes a whole lot of sense plus my clock aint thrown off as much when i return back to Buffalo NY.

Headin there next week and although I am staying at Green Valley Ranch and the Palace Station... a drunk is a drunk, a tired player is a tired player and I'm sure that they will be at my poker rooms too!

  3. I find this to be a good strategy for the Strip, but I'd be careful at GVR and PS. Maybe some of the locals can comment, but locals rooms tend to slow down dramatically in the early morning hours.
