Free trip
I will start by saying the trip was a little unexpected so stakes were lower than normal, but worth it nonetheless. When I first arrived I knew I wanted to play in the Sunday Noon tournement due to this websites information on blinds, buy-in, etc... Great resource.
Anyway, we get there in time to sign up. The process is very easy and fast. The set up, the moving of the players and overall flow of this tournement was top notch. I must say if you don't do anything, playing in a Caesar's tournement should be on the list. The level of competition varied and the blind structure allowed you to play "real" poker. Most tournaments have rushed blind structures but this had 40 minute blinds and plenty of chips. 108 players and the top 9 cashed. Though that was a little tight, the overall payout structure was good. I ended up getting 20th, and had a terrific time. That was my experience there, and I guarantee I will play in that tournement again.
Next up was some low limit Holdem' at Treasure Island. Again, the play was loose and really fun. The drinks came very fast and consistent. Though I have not visited all the poker rooms yet, this one ranks right up there if you like lower limit, 2/4, 4/8 or so. I had a great time and thoroughly enjoyed the room.
Luxor's room was a nice facility, but the overall operation had a little to be desired. On two separate occasions the dealer was wrong on a certain call or question. There was little service for beverages and it wasn't very fast. The biggest issue here was loud mouth players, unorganized play and really a poor ran table. Unfortunately, I did not give this room a second chance, I will but from this experience, it is not a must see.
Riviera, I played here just to see the older casinos and how they were keeping up with the poker trend and the need to have a good room. To my surprise, the game was actually okay. The downfall here was no service for beverages, and when you did get to order, it usually took about 30 minutes.
Overall the trip was a success and I look forward to my next trip out. With this trip being paid for by the company it had a special zing to it. My next trip (most likely in May) I intend to play at Flamingo, MGM, and Mirage.
Thanks
