Low Limits Up's and Downs
6/16-6/18
Golden Nugget- This was our home base, played 2-4 and 3-6. First session could not catch any cards and ended up down about 40 bucks. Played again the next night and ended up ahead about $60 dollars. Nice room, at both tables I played there were a couple of good players and the rest were pretty bad.
Binions- Played 2-4 limit for about 3 hours. My table seemed to be comprised of residents from a halfway house, lots of strange behavior and poker tactics. I could not get any cards for the first couple of hours and was getting frustrated, finally started to get some hands and was able to punish the people who were raising with J2 and AX. Ended up profiting around
$103 dollars. Dealers were good and it was cool to finally play here.
Excalibur- My wife does not like to play cash games so we entered the $35 tournament at 9:00am. I was still half asleep and can't remember the blind structure but I know that you are forced to go all in a lot just to stay ahead of the blinds. I was knocked out early and my wife made it to the final table and ended up winning her entry fee back. After the tournament I tried their 1-3NL table. I bought in for $100 and played pretty tight, I finally got pocket AA in early position so I limped in for $10. I got reraised by the short stack who went all in for about $40. He flipped over A6 and I showed my AA.
The flop came K66 cracking my aces. But since my aces got cracked at the Excalibur, they have the "Wheel of shame" you get to spin for $$$. I ended up winning $20. The tables were kinda worn and the dealers grumpy but I still had a good time.
Luxor- My wife entered the 11 am sunday tourney, while I played 2-4Limit. She ended up at the final table again and cashed out in third place for $92 dollars, she was really excited. I grinded it out and won $40 bucks. This room was ok, lots of tourists playing poker for the first time.
Bellagio- We were killing time waiting for our flight so we went to the Bellagio to look around. I checked to see about $4-8 and there was immediate seating. This room is crowded but still very nice, the dealers and floor people were great. I bought in for $200 and played tight until I could see what was going on. Lot's of loose players at my table who were drinking and having a good time. I kept folding until I finally got QQ on the button. I raised and there were 6 callers, flop came all little cards, My queens were able to hold up and I won around an $80 dollar pot. I donked around for a while longer but quit while I was still ahead. Ended up winning $68 dollars and treated my wife to the buffet afterwards.
