NL Poker Trip
Caesars - Sat. Nice room. Kind of hard to find. Waited 20 min. for 1-2 NL. Bought in for $200 This was my first time in a open table cash game so I played tight the first 15 hands trying to look at how and what other people play. Third hand, I get pocket Aces. There were 5 people in the hand preflop so I had to bet to thin out those in the hand. I bet $22 and get no callers. I guess that was too much. Played for 1.5 hr and was card dead. Lost about $35.
Wynn - Sun. Nice room. Also kind of hard to find. Waited about 25 min for 1-3 NL. Never played at 1-3 blind before. Bought in for $300. The table had a lot of young asians, maybe in their early 20s. I was getting good hands. My mid pairs either was hitting on the flop for a set or would be an over pair on the flop. Was able to make some money. Big hand was when I flopped a set of 9s and there was a flush draw. I over bet the pot making to expensive for any draws. One caller, the turn pairs the board. The caller checks, I move him all in for only $45 more, he shows a flush draw and top pair. The river was a blank and I won. Played for 1.5 and cashed out up $369.
Golden Nugget - Sun night. Room is very small. No wait, they were opening a 1-2 NL table. The loosest and more dangerous table I ever played other than online. Bought in for $200. Most preflop raises were around $15 with about 3-5 callers. Preflop pots were averaging around $60 -$100. I was card dead. There was an elderly lady who was a calling station but she was making her hands. Very very scary. I only won one major hand. I had A-K suited, bet $25, had 3 callers. Flop came A K 10 rainbow, I moved all in with about $55. I get called by the elderly lady. I win when she shows A-9 offsuit. Left the table down $45.
MGM - Mon. Nice poker room, situated near the Lion Habitat display. I was getting good starting hands and also making good reads. Bought in for $200. Played for 2 hrs and left up $245
Binions - Played two tournaments. 8pm tournament, $150 buy in. Before first break, hand good hands, played well and did a lot of semi bluffing. Started with 3000 chips, after first break had 6000 plus $50 add on of 2000, so I had 8000. I still kept my loose aggressive style of play in the mid rounds trying to get more chips, but was being raised all in or reraised by the middle stacks. Wasnt gettting hands and eventually lost with A-Q to A-K at around 12th place with only top 6 paying.
Played in the 2am tournament, $70 buy in. PLayed well the before first break but not getting much hands. Started with 1500 in chips and moved up to 3000 and with a $40 buy in for 1500 had 4500 chips after the first break. I changed my strategy from the last tournament so I tighted up instead of trying to steal blinds. I lasted pretty well in about the top5 in chips til it was the final table with about 8 people left. I didnt have much chips and was going all in either on the button or if I had a decent hand. Pivotal hand, down to 5 ppl, I go all in, another guy who has a little less than me goes all in, and chip leader calls cause of pot odds, I have A-Q off, other guy has Q-J and chip leader had 10-8. Flop comes Q 7 4. I super happy with top pair top kicker. Than the worst card comes, J on the turn. I start getting up out of my chair when the miracle 3 outer hits, A on the river. With that win, I hold on to place and ended up splitting the prize money with me and only the chip leader. Won $625.
Overall, I enjoyed the trip, I would play at MGM, Wynn and Caesars again. Golden Nugget I might not, depending on watching the 1-2NL game and seeing the game isn't too loose. I would definitely play at MGM on a regular basis. Good dealers, average players which give most amatuer aspiring poker players a chance for a profit.
