OSheas poker in the front door
I was in Vegas in mid July on my annual summer trip and to catch a little of the WSOP. I was staying at Flamingon, and decided to go next door to O'Sheas as they have cheap hold'em tournaments fairly regularly.
Before I get to the tournament, let me talk about their tables in the door. I came over early and registered, and to kill some time I was going to play the $1/$2 tables they have. These things are RIGHT in the front door on the strip. Let me tell you, in July in the desert, that is not fun. The players were sweating, the dealers, everyone. I played for about 15 minutes before calling it quits (and I am from Phoenix and used to heat!!). The "room" has 4 tables in it that they use only for tournys, although both tournys I played they only use two tables. Guess someone there still thinks the whole poker on the strip gimick is a good idea....might be, but in 110 degrees plus I will pass.
The tournaments there are affordable and entertaining although the dealers are very weak and missed at least two verbal calls while I was there as well as a mis-read of a winning hand.
So in summary, the tournaments are not bad, but for non-tourny tables you can play the same game, same stakes, next door at Flamingo in the air conditioning. :)
