Palms During 2006 WSOP
Went to LV to play in the WSOP Razz event, but Delta airlines sucks and due to mechanical delays, I missed the tournament.
I'm still bitter about missing the tourney, but playing at the Palms made my trip worthwhile.
I sat down with $400 at one of the min $200/ max $1000 NLHE tables, and to be honest, I thought I was in bad shape to begin with due to the high chip counts of the other players. I played tight aggressive for awhile and lost steadily for an hour or two.
I finally got a feel for the table and lucked out when they splashed the pot. Apparently, they splash the pot every 1-2 hours with an extra $50 before the hand is dealt. I got pocket Q-Jos, and flopped top two. We were 3-4 handed after the flop and 2nd position comes in for $25 into a $75 pot, and I raise him up to $150. Other player folds and 2nd position folds also. Decent pot, but I could have made more. I showed my top two, just to let the rest of the table that I'm not f'ing around.
A few hands later, I get KQ of clubs, and call the BB. 6th position raises to $25 and he gets a few callers, including me. I'm not proud of my hand, but I hope to see help on the flop. Flop comes JKQ with two spades. I like my two pair, but the flush draw scares me. 6th position comes in for $50, everyone else folds to me, and I raise to $100. We're now heads up and 6th calls for my chip count. I have $400 left, and he flat calls. Turn comes blank. Check, check. River comes K of spades. I think he just made his flush, but I just caught the semi-nuts (Kings full of Queens). 6th checks and I go all-in. He instantly calls, and show K-9os.
This donkey thought his trip kings were good with a boat and a flush on the board. I took my $1100 and ran. As I walked out of the room, he gave me a look like I was an idiot, but I think we all know who the donkey was...
