Poker over Easter
Arrived late Thursday night (3/24/2005) staying at the Strat, but have a car. Check in was too long at 2:00 am. Friday (3/25/2005)went to the Palms for some 2-4 I like the Palms for the high hand bonus and having a good mix of players. Played about 3.5 hours and caught some hand (3-Queens) was my best I actually cracked this lady who had two aces. Went downtown after dinner and played in the Plaza's 8:00 tournament. Probably one of the best tounaments in Vegas, at least for me, as with the addon and rebuy you actaully have enough chips to drop a pot and not be serioulsly hurt. I was the chip leader when we got down to 5 and these guys all knew one another so I said okay for a split and got a little more than second place prize money. I wasn't ready to take on 5 guys and I did not have a huge chip lead and we were already 4 hours into it. It was a good start for my trip. The next day (3/26/2005) I went back to the Plaza and tried thier No-limit game. I bought in fro $200 which was the average stack at the table. I got in trouble early as my AQ ran into AK and he hit the nut straight on fourth street. I made most of my money back off one guy he called my allin AA with QQ and my AA held up. Next I called his raise with K6 against his AK and I hit 2 pair on the flop and busted him out. Next session was at the Orleans. Again I like the Orleans because you get a good mix of players. Played some 4-8 then my 6-12 opened up. One guy in my 4-8 game actally had me bluffed off a pot and he turned up his hand before I could muck my hand I reached back an called and won the pot. The 6-12 game had a lot of good players and I was down then my pocket 8's flopped a full house, down a little but still a good game. Next day 3/27/2005 I finally got to play at Bellagio I was disappointed beacuse the main room is still being redone. I quickly got into an 8-16 game and the guy on my right was playing every hand and lierally was on an IV of conac. I was down for this session as my A9 ran into two pair other than that I could not get any hands and when I did I wasn't hitting the flop so down a little. Please note the rest of my sessions were either down or grinders. On my last full day in town tried the 1:00 pm tournament at Aladdin, I liked the Plaza better as these people would call with any thing. I won one pot (semi-bluff) and after that could not pick up a hand tried to bluff on my last hand 3-8 to pick up the pot and got two callers and got busted by a lady who called my with a K9 off suit. Since I busted out early I tried the 3-6 at the Aladdin for me my good hands were running into better hands and I could not hit a draw to save my life and some of these old timers in Vegas are "TUFF" most of us lost to this little old lady who was hitting everything. I made a little bit of a come back and was only down $47 after being down almost $300. I should of quit here but the wife wanted to play a little more so we went downtown to the Golden Nugget for some 2-4. I had played at the GN before and got hit hard so I'd figure I would give it another try. Safe to say I will not play at the GN any more this was no foldem holdem. All my good hands got cracked and I had one really agressive player at the table. My wife busted out and I should have just left, but I was stuck. I changed games and after my AJ got cracked by some girl who stayed in with a 4-7 and caugt 2 pair and my AK by a guy who called with A-3 and caught a 3 and stayed with it all the way. Safe to say I will play at the Palms, Orleans, Plaza (tournaments), and Bellagio again as I found the games good. I may try the Aladdin again but my skip the tournament. As for the Nugget, forget it. Keep em high boys.
