Rio and Gold Coast
Wife and I went up to Vegas on Wednesday for a two night stay. Played at the Rio Wednesday night...$4/$8 with 1/2 kill. Rough night as I was fighting uphill all session long. Could never hit a couple quick hands to get over the top and this table was ripe for the picking. There were a couple wasted players, a woman who continually bought in when she went broke chasing and a couple players who played as though they had never seen a card before. Played for almost 4 hours and unbelievably broke dead even. The dealers were decent although one guy who has been dealing for awhile had several misdeals. The cocktail waitress was freaking gorgeous.
The Rio has changed their room some by adding a wall about halfway down the depth of the poker room making it more of a room than before but it felt cramped to me.
Thursday I played two sessions next door at Gold Coast...one $4/$8 and one $2/$4 both with half kills. Had alot more success over there winning $150 over about 7 total hours. Lots of locals but not nearly as tight playing as at Orleans. They seemd to like chasing alot more there. I played patient and got paid off.
After reading the review of Gold Coast, I was a little tentative about playing there. The area isn't roped off any longer but rather has a nice permanent rail around the "room". They have added 8 flat screen TVs around the room hung from the ceiling which is nice as well. Drink service was ok...my wife who was kicking back watching got drinks which doesn't happen at every room. The dealers were efficient but not particularly pleasant. I will defeinitely play at Gold Coast again.
