Saturday Night in Vegas
So I've played a few Saturday nights recently and have had quite favorable results. A few weeks ago, I was out with some friends and, while they had drinks at the bar at the Mandalay Bay sports book, I went and hit the poker room.
As usual, I sat at the 1-2 NL table and the quality at that time (around midnight) was absolutely horrible. In no time, I ran my $200 buy-in up to $650, mostly when my KK stayed ahead of an all-in raise (which I called) by pocket tens.
Recently, my friends and I hit the Bellagio for dinner and then rolled to Caesars for some Pai Gow poker. After losing $100 in 10 minutes playing $15 pai gow (which would seem impossible), I transitioned to the poker room for some 1-2 NL.
I got my pai gow losses back plus another $150, mostly when I limped into what ended up being a 6-way pot with pocket deuces to see a flop of 2-8-8. Fortunately for me, a the little stack in the small blind who completed with 8-4 and another limper who had A-8 gave me most of my winnings in a 3-way all-in when neighther made a better boat on the turn or river.
As usual, the Saturday night competition was fairly soft, although the table at Caesars wasn't bad at all (I can't say I wouldn't have gone broke with trip 8's in either of my opponent's shoes). I've always enjoyed weekend nights at the Vegas rooms. The people are generally in a good mood, drinks seem to be flowing and money can easily be made. Good luck at the tables.

Nice little report! Thank you for posting!
I agree that the Saturday night crowd is definately the most "active" of the crowds in general. Though I like the drunken debauchery that occurs at that hour at the poker tables in Vegas occasionally, I have gotten more accustomed to the casual dayshift crowd lately. Maybe I'm just getting old.
