Went to Vegas with the wife for 3 days. Stayed first day at Bellagio, last two at Green Valley Ranch.
Played the Caeser's noon tourney first day there. Great tourney as everyone says. About 120 players. My mistake was doing the re-buy/add-on right at the beginning. Everyone at the table did it, so I kinda felt I needed to also to have a competetive chip stack. About 45 minutes into the tmnt I haven't seen much to play and I get AK suited. I make decent raise, get re-raised, and third player re-raises again all-in. After thinking for a while, I figure I'm behind in the hand, but need to make some kind of move, so I call. The original raiser folds, and the all-in raiser flips over AJ off. I'm happy as a clam until a jack hits the flop, and I get no help the rest of the way - poof I'm gone. If I had waited for the re-buy I could have had an additional 3000 chips at that point & still played - oh well, live & learn.
Played 1 ring game of 1-2 NL at GVR a day later. Big talker shows up at table after about an hour of play, complaining he had to sit in a 2-4 limit game with all kind of suck-out's. About 20 minutes later we play a hand. I've got 99 - make a $10 raise pre-flop. He calls - we're heads up. Flop comes J 4 2 rainbow. I bet $30 into a $23 pot. He calls. Turn is 10. Bet $30 again - he calls. River is 9 - go all-in for $75 more on my set, he calls and flips over his KQ off for a runner runner straight. Somehow he thinks he made the right call on the first $30 bet - I can almost agree with the 2nd one, but give me a break. I quit after that. Lots of management complaints on this site about GVR - I had none - seated after 10 minute wait, never any issues.
One non-hold-em note. I started playing this game - Crazy 4 Poker. Player & dealer each get 5 cards to make your best 4 card poker hand - great game! Give it a try.
