Taste of Bubble
Play $1/2 NL at Flamingo Hilton. It's a joke. I was there at 6pm, 1 table with 1 spot open. I sat down and played a little. Within 1/2 hr, the table has only 6 ppl. There was just not enough ppl playing NL there, so I left. Went down there again on Sat 8am. Again, only 1 table NL, but this time with no opening.
Now comes the good part for the $130 12pm Caesar's tourney. I played there a few months ago, came in around 45 out of 130. So, try again this time. Didn't get any cards in the beginning. Luckily in the middle of the tourney, I hit a boat right off the flop, easily double up. Then, I was just cruising for the rest until bubble time. By the end of the 3rd break, around 4pm, I doubled up with KK vs QQ. Doubled again with AA vs AK. Then lost 1/2 of my stack to the big stack on my right. I observed the situation, with 15ppl left, pays top 9. I decided to drag as long as I could to make the money. That was a mistake, blinds and ante doubled to $2000/$4000 + $400 ante. So, 1 round with 8 ppl cost me $9200. Stealing a couple hands only delayed my bleeding for a round or 2. Eventually, ante ate me alive, and ended at 10 spots out of 135. The other short stack player got doubled up instead of being eliminated. So, I was the one who has to get the worst feeling in poker, bubble time!
All in all, great tourney as usual. I do have to agree with others that the blinds go up too fast after about 2 & 1/2 hrs. It really becomes alot of all-in-fest after 3 hrs of play.
