TI Poker Room needs more players.
Played a couple of afternoon sessions at TI. This is a very nice, quiet room with helpful staff and good cocktail service; however, it tends to be dead in the afternoons, and I mean dead. I have played weekday afternoons at Excalibur, Bally's and Sahara and they always have a several tables going. One afternoon at TI there was only one NL game with 6 players and one 2/4 limit game. I sat in on the limit game with 8 players. After about 30 minutes, we were down to 4 players and I got up and left. Can't really say how the competition was since the two sessions I played in could never get a game going long enough. However, this hand should give a general idea. Very first hand I played, I pick up AA. UTG raises to $4. This makes me feel pretty good that the field will get thinned out a little. I'm next to act and raise to $6 and am surprised to get 6 callers. I have played a lot of 2/4 limit games in Vegas and even at these low limits you rarely will see 6 callers to a raise and re-raise. Right then I knew how this hand was going to play out. Despite another raise by UTG and my re-raise on the flop, we still had 5 players in. SB hits runner, runner to make a straight on the river. My only consolation was the SB checked when he rivered his straight hoping to check-raise me. I could see I was beat and saved myself another couple of bets by checking down.
I hope this room can do something to pick up some more business, because I really like the atmosphere. However, until they do, I will stay away as it is not worth the time to get in a game only to have it close down for lack of players.
