Where the Money Is!!! 7/7-7/10
I arrived in Vegas at my usual 5:20PM, which gives me just enough time to make it to the hotel and over thru traffic to Sahara for the 7 PM tourney. The traffic was heavy so I called Sahara ahead of time to put my name on the list. They will accept phone calls which I highly recommend since if you arrive on time you will be in a line of about 50.
When I arrive they ask if anyone called ahead to come to the front of the line, YESSS, since I was about 30 back with all the table already full, they were seating 12 a table. But when I got up to the counter, the gentlemen I just spoke to on the phone said I never called in. OH Great, get back in line, but now 20 more people are in line. Sweet, what a way to start out a weekend.
I was staying at the Silverton, they have a small poker room 5 tables but i wasnt planning on playing there, I wanted to test my mettle at the Bellagio since every poker pro known to mankind would bet there the weekend on the Main Event.
Long story short, the Bellagio had a waiting list of about 60-80 on each game each night, I partied with friends til about 3AM and then headed back to the Silverton. I took in the 1/2 NL each night about this time. The table was usually filled with about 50% drunk dealers who watched Scott Fischman too much on TV and a few ultra tight players that seemed to play about 2 hands an hour.
If you can keep your B.A.C. below .14 you will probably be the designated driver at this table at this hour. The buy in 100 Max, so I tripled up each night in about 2 hrs of play.
I played 1/2 NL at a few other casinos on my last trip, namely Wynn but it seemed all the major poker rooms were just jammed this weekend. So instead of enduring suckout after suckout at a 4/8 limit game, I am exclusively NL after this trip.
