Romantic weekend with the wife planned, but she missed her plane. Got the chance to check out new rooms at Caesar's and Wynn.

Caesar's - Wow, what a nice place. Some have bashed it for being isolated and its true you won't see any skank ho's on their way to the night club as you would at Mandalay, Bellagio, etc., but for those of us over 25 or with the wallet to skip the hot clubs and just pay the strippers, this room is where it is at.

It is isolated from the casino, near the sports book. The best thing I found was the space between tables. You were not sandwiched in like sardines. Plenty of tvs, chip runners and although my waitress likely lived thru the depression, that old bag had the strength the carry a full drink tray or premium adult beverages.

Played during the day, plenty of action, good mix of tourists, local grinders and grizzled rocks. Tableside food, plenty of limits spread and competent dealers made for a good time. Other players raved about the tourneys here with slow levels and plenty of play. No question - I will be back.

Wynn - First off, I am a sucker for a 6'4" blond import from eastern europe with 5' worth of legs. She was serving our table quite efficiently. However, the room was too tight with tables packed in and a pretty long waiting list to get in the game.

Also, if you sit at a table anywhere near the rail entrance, count on an a-bomb load of second hand smoke floating your way. Nice looking room though and love the rosin bags in the pissers to aim at. Hard to imaging a well run tournament here unless its a midweek job as the tables just seem to crowded on the weekend to satisfy the demand - would suspect you have to get there early!!!!

Had fun at my table though. Was like a freakin Seinfeld episode with the bizarro types. Had the 26-year old ex banker that moved to Vegas to play (not bad player), the Russian and his bleached-blonde, DD-enhanced wife that kept bickering at each other and the Beck-looking 22-year old who watched too much poker on tv. One thing I did notice here was a higher level of locals looking to zap the higher-end tourists looking for a poker diversion. Several hands showed these "friends" checking down pots after they had played much more aggressively against the out of towners.

Nevertheless, if you like the babies, don't mind getting crammed in a little bit than its not bad. For my part, I'd prefer Caesars, plus you're not nearly as isolated from other joints in case your cards run dead unlike Wynn which is next to Frontier (barf!!!) and on the Stardust/Riviera/Circus Circus end of the strip (dried, stinky, fly-infested 2-day old barf!)
