Best lower buy in tournament series this summer??

Hi all,
I know this is quite a long way off but I am planning a trip to Vegas this June, 13th-22nd, and looking to play in the lower buy in daily tournaments and tournament series that some casinos run along side of the WSOP.
I am looking to play tournaments in the $150-$350 price range, I may play a $500 or two if Im running good but thats about as high as I plan on playing.
I know Binon's normally runs a very good series, Im assuming they will have it again this year.
I heard the Golden Nugget no longer runs their Grand Poker Series but am hoping I have been misinformed here as I know they used to have amazing structures for under $350.
I know the Rio has its daily tournaments but I am not a fan of the structure.
And there is always the daily Aria $125 which has a good structure.
Can anyone please recommend any other series or tournaments I should look out for that has good structures, Im ideally looking for 30 minute levels.
Thank you very much for any information
Trundle

  1. It seems that there will be another Grand Poker Series

  2. It's not a series but the Aria has switched to just one daily tourney on Fridays and Saturdays, a $240 buy in. Might be in your sweet spot. They still do the twice daily $125 Sunday through Thursday.

  3. Another thought would be the Daily Deepstacks at the WSOP. Those generally get big fields and so the payouts are good -- as high as $14 to $15K first place on the $240 entry events.

  4. Sorry for hijacking but, Dap Poker, do you know how long those daily deepstacks run (hours not dates) at the WSOP?
    Thanks in advance!

  5. If the Grand Poker Series does run, it is one of the best. Also, I believe that the Venetian will have its Deepstack series around that time. The buy-ins are close to the top end of your range, but they are pretty good tournaments.

  6. It's hard to say what the best buy-in tournament series this summer will be when we're still waiting for the 2016 WSOP schedule to come out (likely Valentine's Day). Aria didn't run a series last year besides the WPT 500, but they have announced they'll have a full series this year along with the WPT 500 late June-July.

Expect the usual suspects: Binion's, Golden Nugget, Venetian, Planet Hollywood and the Wynn to announce their schedules towards the end of February/early March.

Another good idea is to bookmark bitly.com/WSOP2016 for a spreadsheet of this summer's Vegas tournaments. Plenty of information will be there as details are revealed.

  7. Hey Trundle, I don't know if the dates are out yet but the WSOP is running their Colossus tournament which is around $500 and may be right around the time you are in town. The Venetian and Ceasars used to run longer level, deeper stacks tournaments - I prefer those myself.

Best of luck - let us know what you find out.

  8. @KCAngell9 - Last year the Daily Deepstacks were scheduled as follows:

    3 PM: $235 buy-in (15,000 starting stack)
    6 PM: $185 buy-in (10,000 starting stack)
    10 PM: $135 buy-in (5,000 starting stack)

They ran every day, except during the Colossus and maybe a few other bracelet events that drew big fields -- Millionaire Maker??? Lucky Sevens???

I didn't play last year, but the general consensus has been that the $235 buyin events are the best value. They also get the biggest fields, sometimes over 1,000 players. So, a top 3 finish can be very profitable.

  9. Use this site, click Special Events tab, select Nevada. IMO, best events will be...
    1. Venetian Deepstack Extravaganza. Most have $10,000+ guarantee prize pools, some OmahaH/L, Omaha Hi, and HORSE events. Use cash game comps to pay part of entry.
    2. Rio's WSOP Daily Deepstacks. Run up to 3 times daily, $135-235 buy-in, no guarantees but many have $30,000 first place. Weaker competition (drunks, tourists, wannabes, and the pros' bored girlfriends). I made over 10 grand after playing 14 hours.
You can also use this site to scout many little $50-$125 daily tourneys, but only go to the ones with guaranteed prize pools or else you may show up and be the only player.
