Awesome poker trip (3/17-3/20)...long report

First off, the rooms at Binions: not bad at all... nothing special, but clean and functional enough. I would definately stay there again just to have the amenity of a good poker room downstairs.

Got into LV early morning on Friday (3/17) drove straight to Binions to find my buddies still up from the previous night playing 3-6. Played for about an hour and made $17.

Drove over to the Sahara to play the 11am. This is a pretty good tourney that's under $100. (cost is $62). About 75 participants, and one of my buddies was on the final table with me. We both held on until is was 4-handed. From there my buddy went on a HUGE rush... of course it wasn't a rush of good cards, but a rush of SUCKOUTS. haha... He doubled up from the chip leader w/ 7-4 vs AT, then split a pot w/ the chip leader (all in preflop) when he held A7 vs AQ. Then as the SB he pushes, I call w/ AJ in the BB, he turns over A3. Of course he makes the wheel on the river... i'm done. luckily we had agreed to a 4-way $600/ea chop of the prize pool w/ the extra $320 going to the winner. My buddy ended up chopping the $320 in half w/ another guy.

Played some 3-6 later that night for -$8.

Woke up early the next morning to play the Binions 10am. This is my favorite tourney... One girl, before she sat down, confessed to me that she did not know what she was doing and that she was destined to give away her chips... Anyway, i raise w/ AK and get four callers, nice girl flopped a flush draw and I flopped an Ace. I put her all in on the turn but she makes the flush on the river. I get crippled and lose shortly thereafter w/ 88 vs AQ. -$110

We do some site seeing at the Wynn, Palms, Mirage and Caesars. The Wynn and Caesars have an awesome arrangement going on... unfortunately we didn't get to play at either. The Palms poker room is pretty anticlimatic. Mirage was so busy it was just a blur....

After the site seeing, we headed for the Sahara again for their 7pm. Since we got there early, i jumped into a 1-2 NL ring game. I wait for about 2-hours to finally flop a set of sixes... went all in on the turn to get called by a flush draw/two pair, and the flush hit!. Oh well...get started in the tourney w/ 145 players this time... and i finished 10th. it only paid $100... so i was a bit disappointed (it took 4 hours to net $40...haha)

The next morning (3/19) I again played the Binions 10am... I again don't make it to the first break. -$110

After that we (myself and four friends) asked Binions if they could open a 2-4 limit Omaha game. They said as long as all five of us played they could. So we did, but right off the bat we pick up three players, and we sustained the game for over 5-hours! The bad news is that it took me 3.5 hours to win my first hand... haha... still good times. finished -$78.

After the omaha session we ate at the famous Binions steakhouse on the top floor. It was some good steak... best part was that I got to eat free because my buddy treated me for my b-day.

After dinner we played megabucks for 105 spins. before the trip we recruited "investors" for the megabucks all investing $21. We got a total of 15 investors and got to spin 105 times... we did pretty poorly and after 105 spins we ended up w/ $240... so everyone basically lost $5.

Monday (3/20) morning i jumped into a brand new 4-8 game downstairs and had my buddy play my chips for about 15-minutes... I finished up $45. I tried to give him some money, but he refused. After lunch i jumped back in that same game and won another $37.

Then I tried my luck at the 2pm tourney. I lasted till 12th out of 60, but still lost my $110 buy in...(did i mention it's my favorite tourney????)

After that we ate our last meal together for the trip and i shuttled them to the airport. When i got back i found a 4-8 game at the Golden Nugget where i dropped another $60. The game broke because the a/c was blowing right down on the table and everyone was uncomfortable.

Heck of a trip... probably my last one for a while... Overall gambling: up $118. Of course after plane fare, hotel and food i was down over $500.
