Cheap sleeps at the Stardust, decent play at Ceasars.

First off, let me say thanks to All Vegas Poker for their listing of the poker room rates. It was an invaluable resource when I needed to get a room last minute.

The Stardust staff was very friendly and even though I had to play the mouse to the poker room manager's cat in a little bit of... well, you know the game... anyway, they'd ask "If I give you this rate, will you play here?" "Sure" I say.... Anyway, the daily requirement is only 3 hours, which is basically a wink and a burp for most people. They seem to be relatively loose with their policy (i.e. they don't track actual in/out time... even though at least 2-3 hours is probably a good bet). As far as the game goes, there was a steady mix of tight and agressive older folks, and looser older folks. If you pick your spots, the game is definately beatable. Unfortunately for me, I got up to my goal within the first hour, and bled away chips for the last two hours to fill in my time even though i couldn't really see straight (which in hindsight was perhaps not the best move.) Anyway, I got a room on Christmas night for $49 (Sunday) in the East Tower. (On a side note, the East Tower is awesome becuase there is an actual balcony where you can go out and sit in a chair and breathe fresh air... which consequently is also where they shot the Saved By The Bell Wedding in Las Vegas.... sorry... had to add that)...

The next day, I went over to the poker room at Ceasars Palace after seeing the reviews here. First off, I have to say, if this isn't the nicest room in vegas, it's gotta be on one of the top lists. Out of all the rooms I've personally been to (MGM Grand, Bally's, Paris, Bellagio, Flamingo, Wynn, Aladdin, Luxor) it's overall the nicest room. I mean, the Bellagio is fancy and everything, but it's just so crowded in there. The tables at Caesars are all spaced pretty far apart, the room is COMPLETELY away from the casino... you can't even hear any sounds of digital coins falling into a digital tray. There's a separate tournament room which is bigger than most poker rooms, and they have a separate raised area for higher limit games (at the time, they were spreading 10-20 hold'em i believe), and also a plus, they were seemingly open to spreading games besides hold'em. The game was kind of a mix between complete tourists and some relatively solid players.

Overall, nice trip, I would recommend playing at caesars and staying at the Stardust anytime :)
