Came into Las Vegas on June 14th. Stayed the first 4 nights at Vdara, the next 3 at the Wynn, and the last 2 at Planet Hollywood as a result of EDC jacking up the rates.
It was a long week at work leading up to the trip so I wasn't sure I was going to play that first night but I ended up at TI.
6/14/13-
Met up with OD and his wifr Alison at TI to play the 10pm tournament. They had 69 runners that night. I busted with 3 tables left. I hoped in a cash game and made $200 profit and called it night before 2am. I won a big pot early against two drunk british guys, but didn't see much after that.
Day- Cash- +$200 Tournament -$65

I woke up and got over to the Rio before 11am. I was happy to see no line to register for the NOON $1,500 Tournament, so I jumped in a cash game for an hour. I played 2-5NL and finished with a just over $100 profit ($110) in about an hour. No big name pro at my first table but the poker media knew one of the players. Other than him the table was a soft table but I got nothing going. I was just over $6K (Starting 4.5K) late in level 4 when they broke the table. My new table didn't have any big name pros but you could tell the talent level jumped up a notch or two. I ended up winning a few big pots and got it up to over $16K. Then before the dinner break the hand that eliminated me went down. I had AJ with the Ace of Diamonds. I raised and I was three bet, so I called as did one other. 10 high flop with 2 diamonds. It was checked around. Third Diamond drops on the turn. I lead for maybe 40-50% of the pot. one player folds and the villian just slightly more than min-raises me. After 30 seconds I shipped it. He thought for about 45 seconds and made a call with a set of 10's. River bricks and we count it down and we have the same amount of chips so I am out. I go back to the Vdara and then I go over to TI and play the 10pm. This is the only tournament I had a cash on during the trip. It got 71 runners. I finished 4th. I think it was like $245 (Profit of $180).

I slept in and didn't leave my room until 1pm. I was pretty tired. I ate lunch at Mesa Grill in Caesars. I think it was the best meal of the trip. It will be a regular spot for me. I highly recommend it. I got over to the Mirage about 2:30pm and jumped in a 1-2 NL game while I was waiting for a 2-5NL game to start. I made a $240 profit despite getting my kings cracked. Glad it was against the short stack. I jumped over to the 2-5NL game when it opened and started off fast. I ran my $750 stack to almost $1,400. I ended up cashing out at $960, which meant I made $210 profit in the 2-5NL game. It was now 6:30pm so I got the 8th spot on the TI mix game list and I went over for the mix game. The mix game was fun. I think it went about 9 hours. I lost $100. Cheap fun.
Results for 6/16- Cash games- $350 profit
Trip- Cash- $660 profit Tournament- Down $1,385
Monday 6/17
Clearly I slept in again. The plan was to play the 3PM WSOP Deepstack. I went over to the Rio about 1PM. I joined a 2-5 NL cash game and made a $150 profit in the 90 minutes I played. I ended up playing in the tournament for about 5 hours. The table was soft to start off with, but it was tight so it was a problem to get a lot of chips. I think the most I had was the $35K-$40K range. I just lost a couple of hands and got short during the 4th-5th level and finally got knocked out when my JJ lost to a smaller pair (Money went in pre flop and he hit a set). I went back to the Vdara and got food from the cafe. I had a very long wait, so by this point I'm tilting. I took it up to the room and watch TV for 2 hours. At 11PM I decide that I want to play at Aria, so I go over to the room. The Casino is packed for 11PM on a Monday night. I check in at the desk and the list are long. I sign up for 1-3PLO, 2-5NL, and 5-10NL and decide whatever they call me first for is what I am going to play. It ended up being 5-10NL. The must-move table was pretty tough. I bought in for $2K and I think I lost $500 on that table. That game fed into 2 other games and I got on the table which I think was more beatable and it ended up that way. I lost another $400 on that table to start off, so I reloaded another $500, putting me into the game for $2,500. Then I went on a run, made some hands, and got paid off. I cashed out a little after 3:30am for $4,100, and a $1,600 profit. It was a good feeling to do so well in that game, and that cash game session really sent the tone for the rest of the trip.
Monday (6/17/13) Results- Tournament- Lost $235. Cash Games- $1,750 profit
Trip- Tournament- $1,620 Down Cash- $2,410 profit

I went to bed and got 6 hours of sleep before I move to the Wynn and play in the RAZZ event at the WSOP. That story will be in part 2.

  1. Clem... Nice report. Glad you did well.

I think the TI Tourneys are only 55 bucks though.
