Labor Day at Caesar's Palace

I typically get comped at Green Valley Ranch and Red Rock, so I've really only played poker there. This time I received free nights at Caesar's Palace so I went there and played the 3-6 limit game. There were a lot of fishy tourists playing since it was Labor Day weekend, and I was up over $200 in the first few hours.

When I used to play 2-4 and 4-8 at the station casinos, Green Valley Ranch, Red Rock, Palace Station, I typically played against local rocks who play every week and are pretty tough to beat. Now when I switched to Caesar's and played against these old grandma tourists who can barely read the suits on the cards, or forgot one of the connectors to their straight, I had a much easier time winning. Obviously, raising before during and after the flop was completely useless. On average there were about six players to the flop, plus whenever I raised before the flop with my pocket aces or ace king, everyone called. One time, I had ace king suited and I was first to act and raised...and everyone on the table called. I was leading the whole time and ended up with a nut straight...and of course this one old lady held her 5-7 suited to hit the runner runner runner flush on the river. Just lovely.

I was so psyched out from playing against semi-professionals from the station casinos (they slow play big hands and trap) that one time I had a full house on the flop and didn't raise it. There were 7 people were calling me to the river with jack high, pair of four's, etc. I actually won that hand.

Overall, Caesar's room is pretty nice, good air conditioning, but no jackpots any teasers. I was going to play the noon tournament, but it takes like over 5 hours to win, and I had a show to see with my wife later that evening, so I just played the 3-6 limit game. I know the secret to improving your chances at winning at poker now. Play against people who are not as good as you, like tourists rather than local rocks. Simple as that.
