Sorry that this report is being posted late, but I came into Vegas for the AVP tournament in early November. (Funny thing was that I came into town the weekend before for Halloween- Go Figure). I fly into Vegas on a Friday night- it was horrible- I was under the weather. The flight was delayed out of San Diego due to construction on the runway in Vegas, so I got in late. I had a long wait to get my bag, and the cab line was the longest I ever waited in. OUCH- not a good start.

After checking in at the Mirage, I walked over to Harrahs to see if the dealers choice Mix Game was going on and to show how out of it I was I really didn't see anyone else in the room, even though they were still there. I ended up going over to the Venetian and playing 1/2 NL (It was all I could take at this point). I played maybe 90 minutes- 2 hours. I lost $60. I was so tired, but I grabbed something to eat before calling it a night.

They next morning I got up and walked down to Bellagio to collect some sports bets winning from the previous weekend. The poker room was dead. I sat on the phone for about 20 minutes before I was like enough since they weren't going to start a new 2-5NL game, and after getting a quick hit ($200 win) at Blackjack, I walked back to the Mirage. I took a quick nap, and then made my way over to IP. I got there about 30 minutes before the tournament started and sat in the 1-2 NL cash game with Alaska Gal, LV Michael, photoc, and few other AVPers. I ended up losing a little on the last hand when I made the A high flush, but lost to a full house.

Anyway, I started the tournament at the silent table (AdRock, Rakewell, and a few others were at the table), but our table didn't quite generate the excitement of the table with photoc, LVMichael, SP Perry, Asian Dave, straybullets, and of course YAPPY. Well the first hour went as planned, Yappy had to rebuy, but only once, I started off well, but then lost some chips only to double up when my Aces stayed strong. The LVMichael knocking out Yappy hand was pretty sick and had the IP poker room buzzing. We got down to the final table and I was the short stacked. Two of us were left from the last longer bet (Sledgehammer and myself- South Point Spelling Bee Champ Perry and Alaska Gal were knocked out at this point). Sledgehammer was the chip leader, and I was a shortstack, so I had my work cut out for me. I ended up doubling up when I had the nut flush draw against top pair (Jacks), and I hit the flush. I did have overs as well. That hand started to push me up the ranks, and by the time the "in the money" players were left I had the chip lead. I gave LV Michael the justice he deserved for Yappy, wait who am I kidding we were all thrilled when LV Michael hit that gut-shot on Yappy. I knocked LV Michael out. It was a common theme for me from about 8th place on. When we got down to 3 players left I had almost 75% of the chips in play. When it was heads up, I was a big favorite. Well the favorite quickly turned to an underdog when my pocket 5's ran into pocket Kings, and on the next hand I was done when I shoved with pocket deuce and ran into an Ace. Ace came in the door and I was done in second place. I still had a bunch of bounties, the last longer bet and second place money so all was not lost. (PLUS YAPPY WAS SITTING IN THE MIX GAME)

After the tournament I jumped in the mix game. A lot of regulars were in the game (Cindy aka poker muffin, Yappy, Asian Dave to name a few). Things didn't start out well for me as I dropped money quickly, but I was able to recover some of it back and lost about $150 for the session.

On Sunday I was feeling better than the previous two days, and I went over to TI and played in a 1-3NL game. I spent maybe 8 hours in the game and ended up about $400. I played in the bounty tournament and was knocked out early. I used Yappy style and it didn't work that well. I did get pocket 9's, 10's, j's, and q's in the first 30 minutes, but was done in 32 minutes.
After the tournament I went over to IP to play in the Sunday night mix game. I had to kill some time playing 1-2NL, and was itching to get over to the Mix game. The mix game didn't have a lot of regulars other than Cindy, so we had a lot of fresh meat at the table. Unfortunately the meat kept hitting their draws in games like Badugi, and 2-7Triple Draw. I knew the game to get them would be 4 card crazy pineapple with an ocean. I made well over $200 for those 8 hands. The best hand was this one. Flop came 6-2-2. I had a pair of 6's and a 2. I discarded the other card. Turn was a A, so I discussed the 2 at this point. A 4 came on the river, and a 2 dropped on the ocean. It was heads up and the betting was strong I lead out and looked at the guy and said "I KNOW YOU DON'T HAVE THE 2"- he ended up folding pocket Aces face up. I had to show him my pocket sixes. Who would have guessed that this would be the hand to post with Yappy playing the night before.... Anyway for this session I was down maybe $20, so it was fun. It should have been a winning session but the rookies were getting lucky.

On Monday before catching my flight back to San Diego, I ended up playing a little 5-10 NL at the Wynn. I could only play for about 2 hours and ended up losing $200 in the game.

Overall it was a good weekend. The sports bets this weekend were very good. I was profitable with the college games, really did well in the pro games, and picked the NASCAR winner for the 3rd race in a row.
