LOOSE game at Venetian/Big pay day

Me and my buddies decided to check out the Venetian. I always love stopping by that hotel as I think its probably the most beautiful in Vegas. Me and my buddy got on the list for 1/2 NL. Best decision we made all weekend.

The wait was pretty long and my buddy took someone else's spot that didnt respond when called. I sat down about 15 mins later.

As soon as I sat down, I saw there was ALOT of money on the table. One guy had well over $1200, another over $600. Everyone had a nice stack. Preflop the action was crazy. There was no limping in. People raising $15 min pre flop. I dont think I saw a flop for about 15-20 minutes. I just sat and watched how everone played. It was really sick. Guys betting $60-$80 with top pair and decent kicker. People calling down to river. Big pots. People raising $100, $200. Even the dealer said it was like a 2/5 NL table. Ive never seen a game so loose with so much money being thrown around. I just studied and waited for a decent hand as I wasnt getting anything playable.

I got lucky on one hand when I got 7 4 in the BB and limped. trip 7s on the flop. Me and anothher guy were heads up. I bet, he called. Turn was a 3. I bet he goes all in for about $120, all I have left. Thought for a second, wondering if I was out kicked, probably. But he was in a rush to leave and figured he was dumping money. I call. River comes a 4 and I fill up. He turns over 7 3! I lucked out big time catching a 3 outer.
I made good money when I rivered a nut flush. The guys in the hand kept me in for cheap and I caught it. Besides I had a gut shot Royal Flush draw. Didnt hit the Royal though.

The hand I got paid off on was when I was heads up with the big stack. He had about $1400 in front of him and this guy was aggressive and loose. Nice guy. Everyone at the table was pretty friendly. Anyway, I had K 6 and I think I was in the blind again. I made two pair on flop. I bet about $30-$40. Big stack raises to $100 more! At this point I remember something Norman Chad said, when the big stack raises you, you pause. I thought for about 30 secs. I remember he was really loose and betting top pair really heavy. I push all in with the rest of my $400+. He calls instantly. I turn over my two pair thinking Im in trouble cause he called so quick and I was right. He had top pair. I was right that was all he had. Dealer ships over a huge stack to me and I can do nothing but smile. I tip the dealer nicely and the former big stack says "Nice hand." At that point I had $1040.
I told my buddy sitting two tables away about what happened and the action and he came and sat with me. He's aggressive and pretty loose also but smart. To make a long story short, he cashed out $2000 and only bought in for $100+. He didnt have a big stack because he had about $1000 in cash on the table. It was like High Stakes Poker on TV. I cashed out $860 and bought in for $140.

I left before my buddy did and he said three guys came over and were paying people $50 to give up their seats so they could sit together. People happily did so and these guys did nothing but gamble and dump money. The would go all in for $100 preflop with 9 high, 10 high. 40+ staddles. It was insane.

It was a fun night and the people at the table were very friendly and didnt mind losing money. The big stack guy ended up leaving with about $2-300.

That one session paid for my airfare and all expenses. Awesome.

Oh, the waitresses and the eye candy walking around that place is amazing.

  1. Nice report. Welcome to the forum, and thank you for contributing!

  2. Very nice!

I get into town tormorrow and hope to find the same luck! Thankfully, I'm on a free plane, have a free car and am crashing with a buddy

  3. i had a very similar experience there last wednesday late afternoon/eve..bought in for $300 and walked out with $1200+, playing T-A with mostly top hands and blind limps, hitting flops left and right, and some aggressive pushes to shake others off big pots...

my first time in that room, and loved it, hope to get back there next year..

p.s. and one other plus..walked out of there to meet up with my father, and put $20 in the VP machine near the sports book and hit four-dueces on the 25c DW machine for a take of $250 after my buy in..plus one comped Booker's bourbon (minus the tip)!! great nite, capped by great meal at B and B's (mario batali's place in the venetian) and a post meal cigar!!

  4. This is not a knock on your report. It was great and I love finding little gems like that table because you have so much upside in a game with $$$ flying around. LOVE the action!!!!!

What do you think would have been your report if that 4 had not come on the river? I mean a 3 outer kick started the whole run? What if your 2 pair ran into trips? Again, I am not negative on your post, just wondering because I have done similar plays and it worked, but I have also done similar plays and thought, "why the heck did i call that?".

  5. I hope to find a juicy table like you did when I come in to town in three weeks. Good report and glad you had a blast.

He had trips with a bad kicker, so the call isn't that bad. At the turn the villian had a full house, and the river brought our hero a bigger boat.

I understand the first call, 7- 4 with trips was not a terrible call. But with out the 2nd 4 ...happy ending would have gone. I am not being critical just evaluating results were close to being bad.

The two pair is in reference to the K-6 hand. I mean when you flop two pair and get pushed for over $400 in 1-2 don't you at least consider trips? He read the "villian" as pushing with top pair and good kicker so he was right. But if I bet some calls in that situation the player has a set.

  8. You are right, 2 hands and good/back luck can define your entire poker session. You just have to hope the good out numbers the bad.

I would have rebought if my 7s got beat. I only had like $140 at that point. But I didnt have to. :sunglasses:

K 6..Im playing the man, not the cards. I had a good read on him and got paid off for it. You cant always assume the other guy has the nuts or a better hand.
