Mem weekend, WSOP Event 1, and lots of other Poker!! Part 1
We arrive in Vegas on Thursday before Memorial Day weekend. Myself and my brother in law, we'll call him J. Im a dealer and came to town for WSOP Event 1 and to play cash. J just came along for the ride to play cash. We check in to the Riviera (i know....but it was only 18 bucks per person for 3 nights!!) Rooms were updated, I was plesantly suprised!! We go down to Poker Room and they are starting a nightly tourney, 55 buy in, 54 players. We start and I give the players way too much respect and fold good hands. After about 45 min , I relize these are mostly Pool Players that really have no clue about poker. I take a couple of beats and get in shove mode. I hit 2 pair on the turn and shove, a guy instacalls and river is now out. I filp over my 2 pair and he announces he has a straight. I can't believe it because there's NO STRAIGHT POSSIBLE!! He says "I have a straight, 8,9, ten, jack!!" (his exact words!!) I crack up and scoop the pot. My luck and hands hold til we hit final table. I'm low so i propse a 9 way chop that will give me 5th place money (pays 5). 1 says no so we play on. we get to final 5 and i catch pocket queens in the BB, UTG shoves for 12k, which is exactly what I have left, and I call. She filpps over a-10 suited and I hold up and take her out. At that point, I have 27000 and chip avg is 32k, so I offer a 4 way split. Everyone agrees since its slightly over 2nd place money. I talke my winnings to a 1-2 table and turn 200 into 550 in about 3 hrs. I go to bed giddly iwth my play and await my WSOP event the nexy day.

As each player went out, I was quick to whip out my phone calculator and tell everyone what the chop value. One guy was an old grinder that just wanted to get paid, one lost his chiplead, and the other was from Italy. I had to tell his girlfriend what it was and get her to translate for me. When I told her the 4 way split, she told him and he gave a thumbs up and said "okay!" I was also quick to say that the blinds were soooo high that this wasn't poker, it was flipping a coin. The Italian was on fire catching cards, so I didn't want to get into a race with him. The other 2 I wasn't really scared of, I was just ready to collect and try to take these guys money in the cash game. The Italian took out 4 players at final table, so we really kept our heads down and let him do the dirty work haha. Thanks for the praise, I'll post day 2 with WSOP and other things very soon.....
Good start. I look forward to day two
Sorry its taking soooo long to update. I wake up on Day 2 and go down to get coffee. There is 1 table of 1-2nl goiong with an open seat, so of course I sit down for awhile!! Over the next 30 nimutes I proceed to catch every card in the deck, hitting 2 sets and cracking KK with a-k os in the blind battle. Im bb and sb raises headsup to me for 14 I just didnt believe him and reraised to 40 he shoves for 90 more and I call, flop is a blank but I hit my ace on the turn. I apoligize sayin i thought he was just makin a move. At this point, im up about 450 when I think TBC sits to my left (after seeing his pic in VOOKS blog, Im sure it was him). About 7-8 hands later i look down at Aces, TBC? raises under the gun to 11 flods to me in bb, I make it 42 he calls. Flop hits qc,9h.th he flopped gin. I check, he bets 35, i raise to 100 he shoves for 140, i call,no help for me and i double him up. He says "thats how you do it!!" I reply "what call 42 with kj and get lucky?'' he starts to tell me i suck and hes played with players ten times better than me.......hes made 40k playing poker in last year............i just reply "then what are you doin playin 1-2 at thr Riveria??? all i care about is the stacks in front of you cuz thats all i can take for now!"" I play anothe hour and am still up about 260, so i walk and get breakfast at blueberry hill before my WSOP event... Very good breakfast and only about 8 bucks with oj and coffee!! I arrive at the rio and am excited to play cards hit the felt and im at a pretty friendly table were chattin it up. I win a few small pots then raise in epto 300 with 1010 get 1 call flop is q 7 5 rainbow, i cbet 700 v shoves with 1700 i make call v has aq STUPID ME i make it thru 3 more levels b4 my ak off gets in preflop with 99 and 9 hits flop so im drawing dead......i head back to thr riv and spew another 300 in the 1-2 game on tilt before we go to Ellis island for Dinner gotta luv their steak special!! We ate it twice on the trip. Day 2 down 40 cash 500 tourney, but more downward spiral to come.........................
