Stranded in Vegas

Unexpected trip to Vegas, got stranded in Denver Airport and the only availible flight was to Vegas; so I decided to stay a couple nights.

After a full day of travel and being stuck at the airport, I ended up in Vegas, somehow, at 9pm. I should have been tired but something about Vegas and the thought of poker got me amped up.

Went to MGM at around 10pm and started up a new 3-6 table, one local the rest were tourist who were decent, except one, who didnt know what he was doing. Won 100$ in 3 hours. Next morning went back to MGM and sat at a 3-6 table, all tourist and one old local.

Pretty loose table with 4-6 to the flop everytime. Was runing cold until "MY" dealer showed up. I flopped a set three times with this guy and was paid off nicely. I got pocket 10's and limped in UTG (not a good idea but i figured I'd try to win a big pot, and since no one was 3- betting the flop I figured a single raise wouldnt push any of these players out anyways), the guy to my left raised and, of course 5 people called his raise(including the blinds), I call. I see the flop in the dealers hand and the first card off was a 10, the flop was 10-A-x rainbow, and I started to salivate. Both blinds checked to me and I checked to the raiser on my right, he bet, and everyone called, and I raised, everyone called the raise. I knew that all the fishies would HAVE to see the turn regardless. Rag fell on turn and I bet and got two callers, but there was now a flush draw, a non-flush card hits river and I bet and get called by original raiser with AK. Very nice pot, dealer had to stand up to push me the pot :) . Played about 2-3 hours up ~150$. Left around 5:30 to play the 7pm tourney at the Aladdin.

They call it a "Freezeout", but its not. I asked one of the managers what the cap on the # of players was and he said that there wasnt any cap, and then I asked him if there were rebuys, and he said "no, but you can come back in as a new player as many times as you'd like in the first hour". How do they call this a "freezeout" if there is not cap on entrants and they have rebuys?

Anyways, level 2, blinds 50-100, I still have around my original stack (T-2000). UTG guy makes a raise to 200, which I read as being very weak, so I re-raise in mid-position with AQd, I make it 550, button calls, and original raiser folds. Flop comes Q-3-10, with two clubs and I bet out 500 he raises me all-in. I figured I was probably beat but I couldnt get away from it with half my chips in, plus he coulda had something like k-q or a flush draw, so I call. He flips over KK and it holds. I then sit at a 3-6 table there, and win my tourney buy in back (60$), before going to dinner. The table was a mix of drunk tourist and sober ones, one of the drunk guys hit a straight flush for 600$. I was very tempted to sit at the 5-10 limit game, with a 2$ max rake, but I passed.

I wake up early the next day and play at my hotel, the Excalibur. The "Big Game" from Bellagio had moved to the Excalibur the previous night and the game was still going when I got there that morning; I saw Doyle check down quads so he could spin the jackpot wheel(he won $30!).

Seriously though, this room is very juicy. I sat at a 2-4 talbe and won 200$ in 3 hours, I was catching some good hands but the play was soo terrible that anyone with paitence and some skill can make a tidy profit playing this room. They were starting up a new 3-6 table which I had requested, but I didn't bother moving since my flight was leaving in an hour.

Overall, a fun trip. Can't wait to go back in a few weeks. Thanks for reading!
