Super Bowl weekend and birthday

Went to Vegas for my birthday on Sunday. got in around 11:30 PM Friday night and checked into Mirage. Played 3-6 limit at Mirage all night...the competition was pretty good, but not as tough as Venetian where a lot of local dealers play 4-8. Lost about $160, mostly to a foreign maniac. Worst hand was pocket aces, hit a set on the flop, then got rivered by maniac's runner runner flush to lose a ton. I haven't played in Vegas since August, so I was having a grand time playing all night long even after a 4 hour drive from LA. The guy who runs this website was right...the platter of sandwiches, fruit and danishes the Mirage mgt. brings out at 5:00 AM is really delicious.

Saturday, decided to go to my favorite poker hall, Treasure Island. Played 3-6 limit again, only this time the competition was a lot weaker. Most memorable hand was again pocket aces, flop was A-Q-6 rainbow, then got re-raised by two other players all the way to the river. One guy had pocket queens for 2nd best set. Played for 6 hours there and won about $300. On one hand had the ace spade royal flush draw on the flop, but didn't make it but won a big pot nonetheless. The management and dealers are very good there.

Played 3-6 again early Sunday morning for a $40 profit against some very tired players. There was some silly bluffing going on (after people are on their 10th or 12th straight hour of playing, they tend to loosen up and play a crazier)which doesn't work very well over the long haul, especially against tight rocks.

Overall $140 profit for trip but had a lot of fun. I highly recommend Treasure Island for easier competition...half the table will be full of tourists who are calling stations, so just sit and play real tight and then make your move.

  2. 3-6, really? Is that a first for TI (not counting the mix game)?

  3. A rarity maybe, but not a first...in fact we started yet another one this morning...have had it every day since Saturday.
