Flew in from London on Fri 3rd Dec ( a day late due to London Gatwick closed for snow )
The cab driver at the airport was bright n breezy until I said " MGM up Tropicana " then he never said another word, $20 inc tip.
Nice room on 26th floor.
8th trip for me and first for my son.Great time to be in Vegas ,it was rammed with cowboys and runners ( apparantly 29,000 for the 1/2 marathon ).
4 poker sessions ,3 in the MGM and one at Ceasars.
Saturday MGM $200 buy in at $1 n $2 cashed out $500
Sunday am MGM $250 buy in $1 n $2 cashed out $687
Sunday pm MGM $300 buy in $1 n $2 cashed out $710
Monday am Ceasars $300 buy in $1 n $3 cashed out $450,
Highlights..My son and I on the same table opposite ends and didn't make it clear we new each other and he saw the biggest and best bluff.
Lots of big stacks at the table and I have about $360 and get Kd Qd,big stack makes it $20 to go ,4 to the flop which is all black 10 high.Big stack leads out for $30 fold fold and I call.Turn 6s ,he makes it $60 and I raise to $120 he calls.River Ah checks to me and I push.Big stack verbally berates the dealer for putting down the A and after staring me down, he folds and I show the bluff.Big stack not happy but rest of the table loved that last bet.
Sun am in the MGM I get AA in early position and make it $30 to go ,folds to small blind ,youngish lady, who says "why so much" before calling.Flop all small - I make it $60 to go she folds and the hoody young fella with dark shades two to my left says "off suit " implying I had AK- this remark sets up for a greatplay a circuit later. In early position I again get AA and again make it $30 to go.Hoody fella calls two to the flop.Flop all small and i make it $60 to go Hoody calls Turn # I bet $150.He takes off his shades ,pulls down the hoody, stares me down and goes all in, I call and show the AA .He never shows and said he thought I was bluffing.Rake in about $900.
Sunday pm pocket 66 against my nieghbours AQ flop A 10 6 that rake was about $300.
With my Sun pm profit + my sons $310 profit we got him a Sony lap top from the store in The Forum shopping mall on Monday am.At Ceasars I saw a $1000 pot.Really good player with A3 got into a flop with a young lady on a A23 flop , they get it all in and she shows the 45 for a flopped straight.
We ate at The Grand Lux a few times , very good. The service levels all weekend ,everywhere was exellent.
Visited The Aria late Sat night.Fantastic but you feel a bit out of it and nowhere near the same busy atmosphere as other big hotels on the strip.
Bought nearly $1000 worth of presents for the rest of the family ( wife & 2 daughters ) just so that we can visit again in 2011.
Final note :- Vegas seems to be back to where it was before the recession.Lots of people and they where all spending & gambling like the old days.
