The main purpose of this trip was to attend some job interviews as I prepare to move out to Vegas in Feb/Mar. I flew in on Wed and got my rental car and drove straight to my cousins house, who lives a mile from the strip, which is where I would be staying. NO poker that first day, as we caught up and had dinner at Green Valley Ranch and he and his husband showed me Henderson, which is where I will be buying a house.
Next morning, I ran some errands, dropped off a few resumes and decided to Nit it up at Harrahs. Bought in for $200, and proceeded to play the most boring 2 hours of poker in my life. I've never seen some many hands folded to the blinds (who of course always chopped) Any raise of over $6 usually took down the pot. I cashed out down $25 dollars and had to slap myself to stay awake. How LVM does this everyday is beyond me.
I walked over to TI to say hello to Dannette and the crew. Without a doubt, this is the best run, most friendly cardroom on the strip. The dealers are all top notch and have the best attitudes and personalities. Even when the room is slow, they can be counted on to make it a fun atmosphere. Dannette convinced me to play the 11:00am tournement. 17 runners. I played real well, taking down a lot of pots pre flop. Caught a nice double up when my Aces beat Jacks with 7 left, and when we were at the bubble (paid 3) I pushed on the button with Q-10h and was called by A-K. Queen on the river and we are in the money. After 10 minuets the woman who had been running the table over busted against the guy to my left, and we chopped down the middle. After tipping the dealers, I was up $285.
Jumped into a cash game with OD and Dannettes husband John. Fourth hand, I Limp with As-10s (The Mpitts hand, have to play it) and see a three way flop, which is 10h-2c-10d. Big blind bets $15, I raise to $50, and the player to my left min raises to $100. Big blind folds. I think for a minute and push for my remaining $225. Player to my left snap calls. I think I'm in trouble, but he turns over Ah-5h and is on a draw. Turn and river brick and I scoop a six hundred dollar pot. Played for a few hours and leave up a total of $670 between cash and the tourney. I hang out that night with OD, John and Dannete and have a blast.

Next day, have a major job interview which I believe went well, however I haven't heard anything back yet. Played that night at TI, whopping it up with the tourist. I try to keep the game loose, and it seems everyone is having a good time. I have a Negraneu moment when 4 players limp, and the button pushes all in for $86. Everyone folds to UTG who starts talking for what seems like hours. He says " I know you got a small pair 4, 5 6s? No, maybe you got A-K? i knew I got you beat, No. i dont want to race. I fold" After he folds he asks the guy if he will show. the guy says "no", but just before he mucks, I say " I'll give you $5 if you show the Jacks" He looks at me wild eyed, and turns over two black Jacks! The entire table and some of the railbirds yell and cheer. "He says how did you know?" I told him " Im just that good" and throw him a redbird, which he flips to dealer Nam, which I thought was very cool. this was the highlight of the night as I was card dead. Dealer Vance managed to give me Aces 3 times in 4 hands, and I manage to win a whopping $ 40 dollars with them, as most times my pre flop raise took the pot, and one time I chopped the blinds, and found aces after I mucked. Finished down $130.

Saturday, played the $80 tourney at Planet Hollywood. 50 players, was doing great, then down to 2 tables, and I raise to 1200 (blinds 300-600) with Ak.Player pushes all in, and I call. He turns over K-10 (?) and a 10 in the door cripples me. I'm out four hands later when I push with pocket 7's and get called by 9's

Over to TI, play the headhunter with Yappy Dave. Take down some pots, but cant get a bounty. Everytime I get it all in, the player has me covered. Get to the final table as one of the short stacks. I double up a few times, and push with A-7, and get called by 10-6. 6 hits and Im gone (The reaction from Yappy was priceless) Back to cash game and more card deadness. By this Time I have stared shouting "Whee!" whenever an interesting hand comes up. I soon have others at the table doing it, and it becomes my Mantra for the rest of the weekend. I even heard one of the cocktail waitress say the next night "Is that the guy who started that? People have been doing it all day!" Worst hand of the trip. I raise to $15 from the cut off with Ks-Qs. Called by big blind. Flop is Q-5-6. Big blind checks I bet $30, and BB calls. Hmmm.. Next card is 2.Suits unimportant. BB bets $45. He seems nervous as he does it, so I push for $170. He insta calls with 3-4 and I lose biggest pot of weekend. I say nice hand, and leave down $425 for day.

Sunday, I drive to the Sahara to play the 11:00am tourney. 6000 chips and decent blind levels, and the worst players I have seen.People calling off the entire stacks with J-5 off. I incredibley get aces 4 times in the first hour and they hold everytime! By the first break Im at almost $20,000 chips. Next level I win a few pots at over $26000, I get aces again! fold to button, who is new to the table and has massive chip stack, bigger then mine. He bets 3000 (blinds are 400-800) Im in the BB with my AA, and I push all in, hoping it looks like Im trying to defend my blind with a weak hand. Button tanks for ever, and actually says " I know you have aces. I call!" (WTF???) and turns over K-Q (Double WTF???) Flop is J-10-4 and I know whats coming next. Ace on the turn and Im dead. As I leave I hear him say " I knew I had to gamble to get all his chips" Nice, I hope they served him well, dumbass.

Back to Ti and play the HEadhunter. at the same table as OD, and we butt heads for the first few levels trading chips back and forth. When we get to the final table, we are both kind of short, but Od already has 4 bounties, He then goes on a tear and bust 4 other players! I scoop a big pot when I flop a set of 2's against two pair, but still no bounties!. I finally bust NerveEnding when my A-Q out runs his pocket 4's Yeah! A bounty. We soon get to three handed, and OD takes me out with Q-9 against my pocket fives. He raises preflop form the button and call hoping to pull a stop and go. I shove the Q high flop, oops. Out in third for $180 and a $50 bounty.

I get to the airport on monday morning to find my fight so severly delayed that I would miss my connection and have to stay another day, oh darn! I check into TI (beautiful room!) and play chash all day, card dead still, but still manage to finish the day up $100 WHEEE!!

Great trip again and I have my fingers crossed about this job. I want to thank everyone at TI for making it so much fun to lose money!!!

  1. Nice report. You probably just had one of the most enjoyable "job searches" ever LOL. It sounded to me like you had one interview, and a lot of fun playing poker! What was that guy thinking to 3-bet "min raise" with Ah5h? He was on a runner runner draw? Did I read that right? As for the job, I hope you nail it.

  2. Nice report. But Im still trying to fugure out what draw the dude was on who "snap called" you with Ah 5h , on 10h-2c-10d board! :scream:

  3. @meekamouse

    Top pair draw.

  4. Nice report. Sorry we never crossed paths. The day you were at harrah's (the 22nd), I was there from 11AM until 2PM. We must have missed each other somehow.

Anyways, see ya in a couple months!

  5. @meekamouse

Just noticed my typo. It was a two heart board. Oops sorry.

Ah, that makes a bit more sense .

  7. So by "job search" you meant that you were looking for which poker room will be your home base?

  8. @mauihaole
LOL something like that. actually I had a second interview lined
up, but they cancelled on me on. I am trying to set up a few more
and get back out in a couple of weeks.

  9. Nice report, you bastard!

Seriously, though, I think I might have been alive if you had AQ. I believe you actually A 10 and spiked a 10 against my 4's.
