It was my first time going yesterday for horse racing. Ive been in the Jax area for 18 years and never considered going because of the reputation. Rude staff, questionable characters and an unsafe facility after dark. I found it to be very clean, staff was friendly and it was much larger that I thought.
I can't speak for the table games but they had quite a few open, there didn't seem to be too many waiting but most people seemed to be enjoying themselves.
The simulcast area I was in. The layout was nice, staff was very polite and friendly. The screens were set up nice and easy to follow each track. The one problem and complaint I have. NO sound. You could hear a pin drop. They should play the sound from one of the tracks that have a race running at the time or at least some bad background music. Something. Sitting in silence makes time drag by and seem like you have been sitting there longer than you have. Add some sound and it would make it even more relaxing( as ralaxing as it can be while gambling)
I went from 12:45- 3:15pm. I am planning on checking out one of the nights to see how it is but will be going back once a week now for daytime racing.
I hope it grows, sees success and continues to be part of the Jacksonville market.
I ended up walking out $49 up so it almost got an extra star just for that but I'm sure I'll end up giving that back in a future visit.
