the poker room at the golden nugget has been moved from rear of the casino. to where the keno lounge was. it is a lot smaller now. it used to be in the banquet room next to the pool. i was there during NASCAR weekend. and the banquet room was being used for a party. i don't know if they plan to move it back , or leave it where it is now. it is nice where it is now. maybe a little cramped.
i had a great table. it was a 2-4 table. i couldn't find a 4-8 table anywhere downtown. it had a few tourist who were dead money. a couple of tourist who where pretty good. and a college kid who thought he was better than he was. it was such a good table that was able to bluff a guy out of the pot. that is a very hard thing to do at a 2-4 table , in my opinion. i had A,K . raised preflop , got 6 callers. flop came 2,6,J.checked to me i bet $2.all but 1 player fold. turn brings another J.other player bets, i raise, he calls, river is a 9. no flush.
he checks i bet . he thinks for at least a miniute and folds. i am still not sure what he had,i suspect a six for two pair.
everyone was wondering what i had. a big pair , a jack, a full boat. i said i would tell them when i was done, but i forgot oops.i started with half a rack and walked away with three full racks.on this trip it was an easy table , but i have had some pretty tough tables in the past.
the dealers were all good, very nice and know the game very well. i only had one problem. i was sitting in seat #1 . this one dealer pushed in and started dealing he was pitching cards real fast. i had 2 hearts and called to see the flop. the flop brought another heart. someone bet and before i could call the dealer turned over the turn card, another heart, i said wait i didn't bet,but it was too late. i did the nice thing and folded my hand . even though i would get another heart to give me the flush on the river.i should have called the floor man but i was nice and just let it go. but other than that the dealers were all great.
there was one cocktail waitress and she was always around when you needed her. she was very nice and had a smile on her face .
they did a good job of running the room. no pronlems for me. but the GN has done a great job of running their poker room since it opened.
as far as i know they don't have any comps or high hand jackpot.
they did have a bad beat jackpot though.
