I continue to like the MGM from a quality standpoint. Chairs are fine, good location and the music from Centrifuge doesn't seem to be as obnoxiously loud as it used to be.
This used to be an easier venue for finding drunken morons, which didn't seem to be as prevalent as in the past. However, the players were not exactly outstanding even when sober.
Went with average here, but dealers fell into one of two categories: Fantastic or awful. Joe and a few others were excellent - kept the game moving, were cheerful, etc. Others were slow, disengaged from the game or downright cranky.
If you played between noon and 3am - service was lightning fast. If you played between 3am and noon, best of luck. One forgetful server who had to cover a lot of ground. Of special note: They are back to serving "better" selections of drinks. They have Red Bull (though not in a can) and a better selection of liquors than some of the swill they used to peddle.
Again, two extremes here. Gary, the regular day/evening manager was outstanding. Friendly, cares about players, provided excellent service. Can't say enough good things about him. On the other hand, some of their idiot policies about how to move players in the interest of artificially keeping tables open was mind bending. Had to wait over an hour to get moved to a friend's table when they had an open seat the entire time - and my game would have only been 7 handed.
Comps seemed to be the standard $1 or $1.25 an hour variety. Also worthy of note is that their room rate policy only requires 4 hours of play per day to knock $40 off whatever room rate you had. Pretty strong.
