This is one of the biggest rooms on the strip. It's comfortable and attractively designed. It's openness to the casino and proximity to a nightclub are mixed blessings. On the one hand, lots of inexperienced, possibly inebriated tourists will wander in, hemorrhaging money. On the other hand, the music from the club can get quite loud and annoying. The good news is they may have improved this situation slightly. I reviewed this room a few years ago and found the music to be a big distraction, but on this most recent trip it didn't seem too bad. Either they've regulated the volume, or I'm getting used to it -- or going deaf!
More good news: They seem to be phasing out those annoying polished stone racetracks surrounding the tables. They already have a few tables that are felt from end to end. One dealer told me that all new tables will be that way, but another told me that there had been no "official decision" yet.
This is why I keep coming back to this room every time I'm in Vegas. This room consistently features very soft tourist action. Probably the softest games in town.
Last time I reviewed this place I was disappointed with some of the dealers, but they seem to have improved. Every dealer was reasonably competent, and some were very friendly. A few were mildly jerky, but nobody ever crossed the line into rudeness. There were couple of pre-flop misdeals during the three days I played on this trip, but that can happen anywhere.
They come by often and are back with your drink pretty quickly.
Everyone I dealt with was professional. Some were friendlier than others, but overall they make you feel welcome and run the room pretty well.
They comp you a buck an hour to play, which is average for the strip. No jackpots or high-hand payouts. Many strip rooms don't offer jackpots of any kind so this is no big deal. You come to the MGM for the soft competition, not for jackpots.
