In the beginning of May I visited Pop's while in the Richmond area on a Saturday night. I will say that I'm glad I checked in via Poker Atlas. The waitlist was incredibly long. I got to the desk and checked in, explained it was my first time and they walked me over to the cage to get my card. They also explained everything and were extremely nice.
I was concerned about the wait, but after sitting at the bar and ordering a drink I was called to a 1/2 table after a short wait.
The players here are very nice and you know they are mostly regs. A lot of calling stations waiting to chase their hands. After just a couple hours of play I was able to more than double my original buy-in.
The dealers are nice, but tend to get involved in conversations with the regs and can slow down the pace of play. The reason for not giving a 5 rating is that the table-side service is VERY slow. I ordered a drink and it took nearly 30 minutes to arrive. It appeared that only 1 server/bartender was working on a Saturday night.
When i return to Richmond, I will return.
