When the room first opened, it was found at the foot of the escalators from the parking lot. This generated a lot of lookie loos generating a lot of action. It has since been moved to a corner of the sports book. The action has suffered as a result. A recent visit on a college football Saturday night seems to confirm the drop off. They had only one 1-2 NL table with four players going and a 2-4 table with seven or eight players.
The tables and chairs were in good shape but the room itself is underneath many of the sports book big screen TVs. This resulted in a lot of the sports book yelling and screaming filtering into the poker room. The poker room had plenty of TVs itself. It was hard to miss whatever the game of the day was. (Ohio State and Iowa State in case you were wondering)
I played in the 1-2 NL game. There were no cheap flops. One poor guy took beat after beat but took them like a man. Tough to make money when you're four handed.
I liken poker dealers to referees/umpires. If you don't notice them, they're doing a good job. However, an Ohio state fan was being scatological. Since none of the players minded, neither did the dealer. Once a lady joined the game, the dealer warned him to behave. I'm sorry for not getting any names. Kudos to the dealers at the Stratosphere.
Teetotaler that I am, I couldn't tell you what they served. Since the poker room was moribund, they were around once every 20 minutes.
The floor man was on the hotel PA system it would seem non stop trying to generate business. They dropped the rake for the short handed NL game and he even offered a bigger high hand jackpot if quads was hit for the four of us in the game.
I did not inquire.
