Better than expected!

Though the overall room WAS better than I thought it would be after reading numerous reviews, the atmosphere definately was below average. I guess we were prepared though, for how small and out of the way it was (hard to find), and we were right by the line of people waiting for a show to start. The tables were nice but no drink holders? Had to drag over an awkward and kinda heavy side/drink table.

I thought the reports of super soft competition are a little exaggerated (at least for me). On a Saturday night, it was surprisingly slow. There were 2 locals at the 2-4 table (playing pretty tight), a few college guys (one very drunk but the others were pretty good), and a few tourists. Not exactly WSOP material but I didn't think it was any different than your usual poker room in Vegas on a weekend. I won a pot with just top pair with queen kicker when one of the tourists kept betting with top pair and a low kicker. I just didn't believe him, and guess I was right. (He went through about $100 very quickly.)

The dealers we had were fantastic! They were funny, personable and friendly. It was the first time we had played with a kill pot and the dealer was very patient and thorough in explaining how it worked. Some reviews have said the dealers here are bad, but in my experience here, these were the nicest dealers I've ever played with.

The waitresses were very nice and timely with the drinks. I think there were 2 girls working in the room and not many players. She remembered what I was drinking, and the weirdest thing was when she brought my drink a couple times I was in the middle of playing a hand and didn't even notice her bring it. Now, in other rooms it always seemed to me that the girls would make sure you knew they were there with your drink so you could tip them, but she would just leave it and walk away. Odd?

Nothing spectacular - I don't really like how they don't wear suits or anything because it was hard to tell who was in charge. Not terribly friendly or rude - just...there.

I wish I had signed up for the players card (I will next time) because the $3/hr is definately great. Much better than the nada you get playing low limit at other rooms. I also tried the famous cookies (which WERE good) and the management DID announce at one point that sandwiches were coming out, which was greeted with cheers.
